AFA's 2017 National Convention and Air, Space & Cyber Conference
September 16-20, 2017
Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center National Harbor, MD
The 2017 AFA National Convention will be held in National Harbor, MD, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center from September 16-17. Please click hereto see the current delegate agenda.
Our Air, Space & Cyber Conference and Technology Exposition will begin on Monday, September 18, and runs through Wednesday, September 20. This is truly a one-of-a-kind event where the Air Force Association brings together Air Force leadership, industry experts, and academia from around the world to discuss the issues and challenges facing America, the aerospace community, and our US Air Force today. Please refer to our agenda here. The agenda will be updated with speakers and topics in the coming weeks.
Important Reminders Regarding Potential Delegates
Who can be a Delegate? Any voting member affiliated with a chapter can be a Delegate for their state if duly selected as a Delegate by the State President. (Cadets may serve as Delegates.) All individuals who plan to represent their chapter on the state delegation must coordinate with the State President since the State President is responsible for selecting Delegates in accordance with the AFA National Constitution. The State President must provide a preliminary delegate roster to AFA Headquarters, c/o the Field Operations Department by August 15. The official roster of selected Delegates must be presented to the Credentials Committee on Saturday, September 16.
What is a Delegate required to attend during the Convention? Delegates must attend the business session on Saturday, the Region Caucus held on Saturday night and the business session on Sunday.
To ensure you have the accommodations and tickets you want to have, you must do two separate things:
FIRST - Register for the Convention and/or the Air, Space & Cyber Conference
If you will be serving as a delegate to the National Convention, you MUST register and pay your delegate fee. AFA Delegates should use the on-line registration process to register. Please visit our main convention webpage for information and registration. NOTE: Convention delegates are selected by the state president for each state. Delegates must have a current AFA membership and be affiliated with a chapter within the state they represent. (Cadets may not serve as Delegates.)
For any delegate that is active duty, Non DoD/Government, and/or an Exhibitor, please select the AFA Leader (Delegate) category from the main AFA registration page. This year, we have modified our registration system in order to offer the correct registration options to our AFA Leaders (Delegates) who may also fall into another Air, Space & Cyber registration category. First, select the AFA Leader (Delegate) category and answer three questions. You will then be directed to the contact information page, followed by the conference fees page with the correct event pricing for your Air, Space & Cyber registration category.
SECOND - Make your hotel reservation
The Air Force Association worked tirelessly again with the Gaylord to get a further discounted rate for our delegates. We need your support in booking this rate so we can negotiate a similar deal for future years. The hotel has agreed to a $168 rate plaus tax (roughly $198 with tax) during our program dates. The hotel is only offering us a limited number at this rate so don't delay in making your arrangements. Included in the rate is a resort fee, which covers high speed internet in your room; 24-hour fitness center access; access to the indoor Junior Olympic-sized pool; local, toll-free, and domestic long-distance telephone calls; 2 bottles of water in your room each day; newspaper available daily at Key Provisions; coupon booklet with saving at the resort and in the local area; up to $10 complimentary dry cleaning, per day; and complimentary transportation on the National Harbor Circulator Bus within the Harbor, Tanger Outlets, and MGM National Harbor (overnight guests simply swiping their room key on the bus).
Please make your reservations now to ensure you get these rates. Reservations will be accepted on a first-in basis until the block is full or until Friday, August 25, 2017 by noon, whichever comes first. To reserve your hotel room, you must first register for the Convention. Upon finishing registration, select the 'click here' link within the Hotel Reservation section that appears below your registration summary in your confirmation and then input the appropriate information.
NOTE: Do not call the hotel directly; the method outlined here is the only avenue available for you to make your hotel reservation at this rate. Please also note that this rate will only be extended to convention delegates.
If you have any questions about your hotel reservations, please contact Amanda Grandel at .
