LPWH Minor Rules

1. Infield fly rule is in effect.

2. 4 - run limit per inning. (except for 6th inning - 10 run limit). All games will be played the entire six innings but not to exceed a 2 hour time limit, unless the mercy rule takes affect after 4 innings. You should not start an inning after the 2 hour time limit has occurred.

3. Pitched ball must pass home plate before a base runner may lead off the base. Stealing of all bases is allowed; one base at a time. A runner may not steal home when the catcher throws the ball back to the pitcher. A runner on third base may only steal home on a passed ball or if the catcher engages play at another base. A runner CANNOT steal home on any throw from catcher back to pitcher.

4. Each team must field a minimum of 8 players or the game will be forfeited.

5. Each player must play at least 6 outs in the field and bat at least one time. A continuous batting order will be used with any new players arriving for the game being added to the end of the lineup. Note, the continuous order is determined by the number of rostered uniformed players present at start of the game of the team with the lesser number of players. Players not in the continuous batting order can be substituted into the game and take the place in the batting order of the player he/she substituted for. The starter may re-enter the game only after the sub fulfills playing time requirements mentioned above.

6. Players must slide on any close play at a base and home plate.

7. The pitching rules established by LPWH bylaws will apply. The key points are:

• Each pitcher is limited to a total of six (6) innings in a calendar week, and a maximum of three

(3) innings in any one game. One (1) full day of rest is required after pitching between one (1)

and three (3) innings in a game. If three or more games are played in a week, pitchers are

permitted a total of nine (9) innings during the week, (rest rule requirements apply).

• The total of all eleven (11) year old pitchers are limited to a total of two (2) innings per game,

and may not pitch after the fourth (4) inning in any game. One (1) pitch constitutes an inning.

(i.e. you can pitch 2 eleven year olds one inning each or 1 eleven year old 2 innings)

• 12 year olds cannot pitch

• 9, 10 and 11 year olds must pitch from the 46 foot rubber. 8 year olds pitching in Minors must pitch from 46ft.

* A catcher cannot pitch in the game if they have caught more than 3 innings. Please note (1) pitch constitutes an inning

8. Bunting is allowed.

9. Upon request a coach must provide a team roster and playing ages before a game to opposing

coach.

10. A pitcher is to be removed from that position after hitting a second batter in an inning or after

hitting a third batter in a game.

Note: for safety of the players, whenever there might be concern of darkness, weather conditions, time, etc., the umpire and head coaches will discuss the matter and decide whether or not to continue the game.
