Recruitment Rules For The Post of Professor
In exercise of the powers conferred under Rule VIII (vi) of the Memorandum of Association and the Rules & Regulations of Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute, the Institute makes the following rules to provide for recruitment for the post of Professor in the Institute.
I) These rules may be called the Professor’s Recruitment Rules, 2005;
II) Appointment to the post of Professor shall be made either
(i) by promotion of a person of a proven merit and efficiency from amongst the persons working as Associate Professors in Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute and who have worked (i) for not less than ten years in the cadre of Associate Professor; (b) have publication of at-least three books on the subject of specialization which are assessed and approved by outside referee or (b) publication of five research papers on the subject of specialization in reputed journals; (c) must have participated in at-least three national seminars and circulated a per on the subject concerned;
OR
(ii) by direct selection
To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post of Professor, a candidate must possess;
(a) Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in the subject and having Ph.D. Degree in the subject; or (a) Master’s Degree in the subject from a foreign University with Ph.D.
AND
(b) Must have successfully guided at least two students for Ph.D. Degree or published at least seven research papers in the subject in reputed journals; or (b) Ph.D. Degree and at-least five research papers in the subject in reputed journals; or (b) Ph.D. Degree and successfully guided fifteen dissertations at Post Graduate level;
AND
(C) Ten years of teaching experience at a university or college out of which five years’ experience at post Graduate level.
It is open in any Selection Committee to prefer candidates with higher academic qualifications keeping in view the requirement of excellence in the work in the Institute. However, there shall be no relaxation in the minimum requirement of ten years of teaching experience;
OR
(iii) By temporary transfer on deputation post from amongst the persons working in various cadres of Govt. of Gujarat in quasi Government offices/autonomous bodies under the Government of Gujarat.
III. The appointment by direct selection and promotion shall be made in ratio of 1 : 1.
IV. The selected candidate/s should possess adequate knowledge of English, Gujarati and / or Hindi.
V. The candidate appointed by direct selection will be kept on probation for a period of two years.
VI. The selected candidate will be required to pass the departmental examination(s) in Hindi/Gujarati or both in accordance with the rules prescribed and amended by the Government from time to time.
VII. The candidate appointed either by direct selection or by promotion shall have to undergo such training as may be prescribed by the Government from time to time.
VIII. The selected candidate will be required to furnish a security and surety bond for such amount and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
Recruitment Rules For The Post of Associate Professor
In exercise of the powers conferred under Rule VIII (vi) of the Memorandum of Association and the Rules & Regulations of Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute, the Institute makes the following rules to provide for recruitment for the post of Associate Professor in the Institute.
I) These rules may be called the Associate Professor’s Recruitment Rules, 2005;
II) Appointment to the post of Associate Professor shall be made either
(i) by promotion of a person of a proven merit and efficiency from amongst the persons working as Assistant Professors in Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute and who have worked (i) for not less than ten years in the cadre of Assistant Professor; (b) have publication of at-least five research papers on the subject of specialization in reputed journals/books which are assessed and approved by outside referee or (b) must have participated in at-least three national seminars and circulated a paper on the subject concerned;
OR
(ii) by direct selection
To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post of Association Professor, a candidate must possess;
(a) Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in the subject and having Ph.D. Degree in the subject; or (a) Master Degree in the subject from a foreign University with Ph.D.
AND
(b)At least five years’ teaching experience out of which at-least two years experience at Post Graduate level.
AND
(c)Three research papers in the subject published in reputed journals;
OR
(c) successfully guided ten dissertations at Post Graduate level;

(I) These rules may be called the Assistant Professor’s Recruitment Rules, 2005.
(II) Appointment to the post of Assistant Professor shall be made by direct Selection.
To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post of Assistant Professor, a candidate must posses:
(a) Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in the subject and having Ph.D. Degree in the subject or Master’s Degree in the subject from a foreign University along with Ph.D. OR Clearing of National Eligibility Test. ( NET)
AND
(b) At-least three Year’s teaching experience.
(III) The selected candidate/s should possess adequate knowledge of English, Gujarati, and/or Hindi.
(IV) He/She will be kept on probation for a period of two years.
(V) The selected candidate will be required to pass the departmental examination(s) in Hindi/Gujarati or both in accordance with the rules prescribed and amended by the Government from time to time.
(VI) The candidate appointed either by direct selection or by promotion shall have to undergo such training as may be prescribed by the Government from time to time.
(VII) The selected candidate will be required to furnish a security and surety bond for such amount and for such period as may be prescribed by the Government.
Recruitment Rules For The Post of Research Officer
01 These Rules shall be called “Recruitment Rules for appointment to the post of Research Officer (Computer) rules, 1992”.
02 The pay scale for this post shall be Rs.6500-10500.
03 The appointment to this post shall be made either:
i) by promotion of a person of proved merit and efficiency from amongst persons (i) who have served for at least 5 years as Research Assistant or in an equivalent post and (ii) holds at least a second class post graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, commerce or a recognized university; (iii) possessing a post graduate degree or diploma in computer science

04 To be eligible for appointment by direct selection to the post mentioned in Rule (3) (ii), a candidate must-
(a) be not more than 30 years of age (relaxable in case of SC, ST, SEBC and PH as per rules)
(b) possess at least a second class post graduate degree in Statistics, Methematics, Economics, Commerce, of a recognized University; or a graduate degree in engineering or technology
(c) hold a post graduate diploma or degree in computer science
(d) possess at least two years of experience in Electronic Data Processing
Provided that the upper age limit may be relaxed in favour of candidate possessing exceptionally good qualification or experience or both.
Provided further that the upper age limit may also be relaxed by a maximum of five years in favour of persons already in the service of Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute.
Provided also that the preference will be given to candidates who (a) have practical experience of collection, compilation, analysis and interpretation of statistical data, or (b) have practical experience of conducting and organizing research in problems in the fields of Applied Economics, Labour, Industries, Education, Health and Medicine, Demography, Sociology or (c) have undergone training in research methods or electronic data processing from recognized institutes like the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta, the Institute of Agricultural Research Statistics, New Delhi, and possess experience of conducting large scale surveys.
