Friday 10th / / Book Making with Catherine Scriven. This beautiful book uses traditional methods to stitch the papers together. The cover is using Liberty lawn fabrics. It will almost be too good to use – definitely a notebook to keep for special occasions. They would also make an excellent gift but only for that special person who will appreciate the unique quality and only if you can bear to give it away – you may have to make more that one! / 10am to 4pm £30Monday 13th / Patchwork panel with a difference with Kath – Using a variety of fabrics such as leather, velvet, organza, wool etc to create mini blocks and then use, nuts, washers, springs, buttons and string and stitches to embellish what will be a unique piece that will reflect your own imagination. / 10am to 4pm £25

(second date to be agreed) / Strippy patchwork with Kath – Machine pieced using Japanese print fabrics and Panel. Using some traditional piecing and appliqué. Make as small or as large as you wish. Suitable for all levels. Finish piecing and begin Applique. / Day 1 10am to 4pm £25

Monday 24th / Art deco stained glass patchwork with Kath – use bright colours and quick bias to create this art deco panel which can be used as a centre piece for a quilt, cushion table centre or wallhanging. You can also use machine stitches to embellish or outline the bias to emphasize the effect / 10am to 4pm £25

Saturday 6th - Threaducation aka Indian Dowry Bags
Learn so much more about all the decorative threads that you can use in your work and at the same time explore the potential of your sewing machine. A goodie bag of wonderful threads can be available to you so that you have the opportunity to try a range of threads that can enhance your projects. At the same time as working with the threads we will make a simple but decorative bag. This bag is inspired by the dowry bags used in India. A day bursting with information, ideas, threads to take home with you and an end product! / 10am to 4pm each day.

Sunday 7th - Twilight Poppies
In this workshop we will create a stunning, long, slim wall hanging featuring poppies silhouetted against a setting sun reflected onto a moonlit lake. The day will involve working with sheers and cottons along with some bondaweb appliqué. Pat will also introduce you to working with a variety of decorative threads. / 10am to 4pm each day.

Friday 12th / Jelly roll room divider with Kath – OK you can do a quilt if you want to using a jelly roll but for those who want to explore some thing a little different this is an opportunity to create something with a different purpose and to give your room a different look

Friday 26th / Applique Landscape with Kath – Create this unusual landscape with vibrant colours and different shapes. You can make a few small ones that can then be made into special cards that you would pay a fortune for in the shops or you can create a larger version and use it as a table centre with complimentary place mats – that would give you a talking point over dinner!! / 10am to 4pm £25
August 2013
Friday 2nd August / 2 generation day - Struggling for something to do during the school holidays – children already bored then bring along your child or Grandchild and choose a project that you can both make. Children from 8 upwards welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum 2 children per adult. / 10 – 2pm £20 for adult and 1 child. £10 per additional child.5th – 9th / Closed - sorry but this gives everyone chance to recharge their batteries!
Monday 12th Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th, Friday 16th, Saturday 17th / Come along and work on your own projects – Catch up on some me time and finish some of those projects you have been working on. Added incentive – cake everyday this week and like minded friendly stitchers! / 10 – 2pm £10 per day
Monday 19th to Saturday 24th
(Not Friday 23rd see below / Catch up on missed workshops – your chance to catch up on workshops you may have missed. Choose from Stumpwork sheep, Stumpwork butterfly, embroidered pansy, box making or try miniature patchwork. Come to more than one class and work on your projects or start a few different subjects that you can then finish at home or on regular stitching days. / 10 – 3pm £20 per day
Friday 23rd / / Make these fabulous Fabric flowers with Helen – you will make three different flowers in the workshop using 3 slightly different techniques. As you can see they make a wonderful table centre or decoration. Individual flowers can be made into brooches, scarf decorations etc there are so many uses you definitely won’t be able to stop especially as they make great gifts.
Friday 30th August / / Finishing Techniques with Philippa Naylor
Learn award winning techniques to get the best possible finish to the edges of your quilts. In this practical workshop a variety of samples are made. These include beautiful mitred borders, contrasting fabric covered piping, the neatest double folded binding, how to make a hanging sleeve and so much more! / 10am to 4pm

I will keep you up to date.Monday 2nd September / / We welcome Amanda Carter to the Silver Thimble for the first time. Amanda has designed four wonderful panels to reflect the seasons as seen through a stone archway. You can choose which panel you would like to create on the day and if you wish to purchase the other kits to complete the set Amanda will have spares with her. / £25 + kit
Monday 9th September / / Durham Quilting with Lilian Hedley – come and learn with the hand quilting guru. Make a cot quilt or lap quilt learning how to design and stitch you will also gain a little of the history of Durham quilting as Lilian takes you through the two days. There will also be a finishing day at a later date. / 10 – 4pm both days

Monday 11th / / Stumpwork Sheep with Kath – experienced or new to stumpwork this wacky sheep is made using French knots and bullion knots and then dressed to your liking. If you would rather concentrate on dressing the sheep you could forego the French knots and bullion knots and just make it from wool fabric. I will be surprised if you stop at one! My choice of a waaalker is shown here, but try a baaalarina dressed all in pink or a baaanker, there may also be a gaaangster. Get ready for Christmas and create a saaanta – you get the idea!
I try not to repeat topics but no apologies for repeating this popular workshop as everyone had so much fun I was asked if I could do it again! / 10-4pm £25
Friday 20th / Teddy Bear with Kath – At the request of those who made the miniature teddy – “can we have something bigger next time” – I have included this delightful teddy on the programme. It is a great keepsake but would also make a beautiful Christmas gift for that special friend (Not a toy) / 10 – 4pm £25 =Kit

Friday 11th October / / Get Plastered with Maggie Smith– we are fortunate to have Maggie with us again this year following on from her highly successful event in 2012 Maggie.A fun mixed media approach using a plaster and paint mixture to create texture and line though mark making on both paper and fabric. Hand stitching is experimented with before and after exploring processes using shape and texture. No previous experience is necessary. / £tbaTuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th October / Medieval Inspired mixed media with Isabel Hall – Isabel is producing a new book for launch in August and she has been persuaded to base this 2 day workshop on her new book. Details of the project will be released once she has launched her book but you can rest assured it will be equally exciting as her 2012 workshop.
