Work in duos or trios

Preparation of reports (handling method, angle of approach, choice of sources…)

With the backing and mentoring of their Chief Editor, each duo or trio will be required during this further group working session to begin preparing the treatment of the subject-matter. After about one hour of work in duos or trios, each of them should present its allotted subject, particularly the choices made as to the sources, method of handling it, format, etc. A collective discussion led by the Chief Editor will then allow participants to fine-tune their choices and compare the stances / approaches worked out by each duo or trio.

6.00 – 7.00 pm Media, Intercultural Dialogue & Fight against Discrimination - Cross-Reports from Turkey – Completion and presentation of the outline reports

Working Groups

Within the working groups, each duo or trio will give a presentation of the subject selected, the choices made in terms of sources, treatment, format etc. A group discussion led by the chief editor will provide the opportunity to refine the choices and compare the directions/approaches taken by each duo or trio. At the end of the session, each duo or trio will use the time remaining on that day to retrieve the material (sources, pictures, sound etc) needed to produce their media report.

European Media Encounter - Council of Europe – Speak out against discrimination Campaign - p. 9

'' Promoting intercultural dialogue is a collective responsibility but it is also down to individuals. That is the message of the Council of Europe's Speak out against discrimination campaign. And since the media and media professionals have a major role to play in combating discrimination and encouraging intercultural dialogue, the Council of Europe has sought to involve all the media industry's players (publishers, regulators, etc) and have them debate and propose solutions for promoting a culture of tolerance and mutual understanding, bearing in mind the media's contribution to informing the public and forming opinion.
