Physio(PT), Occupational (OT), Sensory Integration Therapy (SI) and Exercise Classes
We provide one-to-one sessions and group classes, using a range of specialist equipment and expert guidance. These therapies can maintain and improve posture, mobility, strength, movement, coordination, cognitive and sensory perception skills. The Outreach Service includes refreshments and social time after the exercise class.

Therapy Reports
Our therapy team can provide therapy reports as requested. As you can appreciate, compiling and writing reports can be a lengthy process and Merlin MS Centre clients who are regular users of the facilities will be prioritised.Individuals who are new to the Centre or have not attended the therapy department for over 6 months will need a full review. It is likely this will require more than one appointment especially if more specialist assessments are needed. If you have MS, an appointment with a therapist costs £20 per hour, if you have any other neurological condition the cost is £45 per hour. On average a full report takes about 3 hours to write, consequently a charge of £80 will be required for the written report to support the therapy department.
Oxygen Therapy Department
By breathing in a pressure chamber, elevated levels of oxygen can be absorbed into the bloodstream to help reduce inflammation and improve circulation leading to repair and recovery, relieving symptoms associated with a range of health conditions.

FES Assessment and Treatments– provided by the Neurological Physiotherapy Practice (NPP), this treatment uses pulses of electrical stimulation to produce contractions in paralysed muscles to correct drop foot problems and strengthen weakness in arm and hand muscles.Book with Becky Duncan or Liz Meakin at NPP 01326 561012

Reach Out Counselling –Living with a long-term condition can impact on mental and emotional well-being for you and family members. We offer aconfidential telephone, Skype and face-to-face counselling service. Merlin MS Centre will fund up to four sessions, but we do ask if you wish to cancel a session you try to give 48 hours’ notice or a cancellation fee of £10 may be charged. If you wish to continue your counselling, the counsellor will advise on the costs to the clients.Contact the Centre 01726 885530
Health and Well-Being Therapies – Our therapists offer a range of complementary and alternative treatments to improve health and well-being of those living with long-term conditions. Therapies can help reduce stress and anxiety; enhance relaxation and improve sleep patterns; increase circulation and range of movement; and decrease discomfort and pain.

Social Groups – Our social groups are open to all who need support, social interaction or who feel isolated at home. We also have a social committee that run fundraising events both at the Centre and in the community throughout the year.
Free Transport – We provide fully accessible transport service to and from the Centre with our team of volunteer drivers. Clients are responsible for booking their own therapies around the service, which operates on a donation basis. We do all we can to reach as many people as possible, but regret that if there is insufficient demand for a specific area it is not cost-effective to run a service.

The Merlin MS Centre
Our charity receives no Government funding, so we must fundraise to provide our specialist services and therapies both at the Centre and in the community. Currently we contribute up to half the cost of all treatments for anyone with Multiple Sclerosis and their primary carer.
We extend our services to anyone living with a long-term neurological condition. such as Parkinson’s, Stroke, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, who feels they can benefit. Our charges for people with a neurological condition, other than MS, are based on the actual cost of providing the therapy.

All new clients must have an assesment and induction before any therapy can be booked. A charge of £5 is made which will be deducted from the first treatment charge.
Cancellation Charges: Please give 24 hours’notice if you are unable to attend your appointment. Without this notice a £5 cancellation charge may apply.
