JOB TITLE:Policy and Practice Officer

GRADE:P2

JOB PURPOSE

1.To contribute to the development of policy and professional practice on behalf of the CIH in Scotland.

2.To build relationships with CIH’s key stakeholders, to inform and influence policy and practice.

3.To help promote and communicate policy and practice to a wide audience of individuals and organisations.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

1.To contribute to the development of CIH Scotland policies for housing and communities.

2.To develop the CIH Scotland’s policy and practice work via research, information collation, and appraisal of current and proposed policy and practice developments.

3.To communicate policy and practice to a wide audience through a range of formats including writing reports, briefings, articles, as a member of working groups and by speaking at events.

4.To respond to consultation papers, policy statements and documents from government and other organisations.

5.To develop and maintain links with a range of key stakeholders to influence their views and to gather information to feed into CIH policy and practice work.

6.To commission, project manage or write policy research, policy or practice reports, briefings and guidance.

7.To help formulate CIH Scotland’s events programme, act as policy lead on up to six events annually, contribute to the development of the programme for our Annual Conference, and work with our Learning and Development Team to inform our training and other services to people working in housing.

8.To provide support to the Head of Policy and Public Affairs with media and parliamentary work.

9To contribute to the generation of sponsorship, grant and other income.

10.To help provide a service to CIH members and others to answer queries relating to policy and practice issues.

11.To contribute to the development and maintenance of a bank of information relating to policy and practice issues.

12.To support the work of Scotland Business Unit of CIH.

13.To undertake any other reasonable duties as may be required.
