MISSION AND SERVICES

Environment / Other (please describe)
Please provide your organization’s mission statement below (or attach).
The Shelter Association of Washtenaw County provides temporary shelter and supportive services in a safe and caring environment, and works with the community to allocate the necessary resources to meet the needs of people who are homeless.
Please provide a brief history and/or overview of your organization’s work and goals.
The Shelter Association has been providing shelter and supportive services for 20 years. Though we started as a provider of emergency shelter only, we have grown to provide not only shelter but intensive case management services that seek to address the complex causes of homelessness in order to move people into sustainable housing.
Please describe the programs or services within your organization.
The Shelter Association provides emergency shelter (up to 90 days) and case management services for single adult men and women. We operate Huron House (our men’s shelter), Felch House (our women’s shelter), and Ashley Place (our day shelter). Each client who stays in one of our night shelters is required to participate in our intensive case management program. In addition, people who are unable to secure a bed in one of our shelters are able to receive case management services from our day shelter program. Case managers work with clients first to address short-term needs (food, clothing, transportation), and then to address longer-term goals (finding employment, saving money, securing housing); they also work with the community to provide referrals and connect clients to other supportive services as needed.
CONSULTING PROJECT

Business Development / Organizational Change
Marketing / Other: Human Resources
Please describe the project that a Community Consulting Club team of 4-6 students could complete for your organization in approximately 10-12 weeks.
We would like a team to help us design an employee evaluation plan. Our organization operates under a team management concept. We would like an evaluation plan that is appropriate for such a style and that includes feedback from employees as well as measurable goals and outcomes of employee performance. We are open to whatever ideas and input your team might be able to contribute.
Please list the organization’s goals for the project.
We would like to have in place a functional employee evaluation plan that will be well-suited to our organizational structure and style. (See above)
Please provide any additional background information about the project that would be helpful to the consulting team. Attach additional documents as needed.
We do not currently have any sort of employee evaluation process in place, so we are starting from scratch. We can provide any additional information as needed.

Thank you for your participation! Please feel free to attach any materials you think would be helpful.
