4th Quarter Project

Human Body

For the 4th quarter project you will be creating a PowerPoint presentation about a particular disease or disorder of the human body. Your presentation should be between 7-10 minutes. If you go over or under the time limits you will lose a half point for each minute. You will be graded based on a rubric.

PowerPoint Presentation requirements:

  • Background that is not distracting to those viewing the presentation
  • Easy to read from anywhere in the room (font should not be smaller than 18)
  • Do not crowd information on a slide
  • At least 2 pictures pertaining to the disease or disorder
  • At least 1 Hyperlink to a Web site
  • 1 graph on Important Data pertaining to your specific disease or disorder.
  • Credits Slide for all of the sources you utilized

As for the information for the disorder you should at least include:

Name of the disorder (How did it get that name)

What does this disorder do?

What body system(s) involved and how?

Who does it affect? (age group, race, gender, etc)

Symptoms

Is there a cure/ treatment/ prevention?

Possible research into a cure? (Stem Cells?)

Any other important facts of information you find interesting about the disease or disorder.

  • Along with the PowerPoint Presentation you must make up a handout that will be given to your classmates to fill out while you are presenting.

There will be only one person in living environment doing a particular disorder therefore it is based on a random number assignment. The sign-up will begin February 28 at 3:00 p.m.

The PowerPoint must be turned in as a paper copy & a paper copy of the handout by 3:00 on April 27, 2007. After that time there will be a 10 point penalty for each day late.

You should save your PowerPoint to your file on the computers at school. The PowerPoint on the your file should not be altered after a paper copy is handed in. If there are any changes made there will be points deducted. Presentations will begin on May 1, 2007.

ANY POWERPOINT THAT CONTAINS INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE OR ITEMS INAPPROPRIATE FOR SCHOOL WILL AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE A ZERO AND A DISCIPLINARY WRITE UP.
