WILL OF MICHAEL HARMON

In the name of God amen, I Michael Harmon of the County of Mercer and State of Kentucky do make ratify and confirm this my last will and testament (viz) my Soul I consign to God who gave it and my Body to the earth to be interred in a decent Christian manner and as to my worldly goods herewith God hath blessed me in this life I give devise and dispose of in the following manner. First I give to my wife Peggy seventy Pounds out of notes and bonds now in possession be paid to her as soon as can be collected after my decease also my young Blaze mare and saddle also her choice of a bed and furniture also her choice of a pot or an oven.

To my son Peter if it is his choice to occupy any of my plantations in Mercer or my plantation in Nelson County he is to have his choice by paying a reasonable rent and keeping the same in good repair until my son Jacob arrives at the age of maturity and he Peter with my other Executor to rent out my other farms at such reasonable rents as to enable the rentor to keep the same in good repair. My son Peter also to have the use of sixty pounds to be raised out of my stock of Leather now on hand until my youngest son comes of full age by paying to the estate interest on the same annually and at the maturity of my son Jacob my plantations to be divided between my sons Peter Michael and Jacob making the value equal themselves or by my executors, all my just debts to be previously paid and after such division if my wife remains single and while she does so to have her support from the three plantations jointly, my daughter Peggy to be supported in the same manner until she is of full age.

To my daughter Barbara I give one dollar only as she has already received what I have allotted her, To my daughter Kitty I give seventy Pounds as soon as it can be collected from my personal estate. To my son John I give sixty pounds when the age of twenty one. To my daughter Peggy I give seventy Pounds when of full age. My sons Michael and Jacob I wish to be bound to suitable trades at the discretion and by my Executors until they are of full age. If any balance of my estate remains after the above distributions to be equally divided betwixt Peter, Michael, and Jacob my sons when Jacob is of mature age and this and no other I declare and ratify as my last will and testament appointing my son Peter and Richard Hope Executors of the same in testimony of which I have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this 31st day of July 1807.
