A KNIGHT OUT

Ian McKellen Premiers New Solo Stage Show in L.A

Los Angeles, June 19 2006

International star of stage and screen, Ian McKellen will present his one-man entertainment ‘A Knight Out in Los Angeles’ at The Freud Playhouse on UCLA campus on July 22 and July 23 2006 to benefit The Los Angeles Young Actors’ Company.

The show is the latest version of the acclaimed show which McKellen has toured round the world for local charities.

Ian says –

“I’m delighted to be back on stage in Los Angeles supporting the work of The Los Angeles Young Actors’ Company. The show lets me revisit favorite parts, tell a few stories and will present Gandalf onstage for the very first time! My aim is that the audience enjoy themselves as much as I shall, all in aid of the best of causes.

There will be only two performances of ‘A Knight Out’. The first on Saturday July 22 will be a Gala with McKellen hosting an after-show reception for audience members in the Courtyard of The Freud Playhouse.

The Los Angeles Young Actors’ Company (LAYAC) is a non-profit theatre company for young actors between the ages of 16-25 which gives young people, regardless of their background an experience of the theatre.

The Executive Director of LAYAC is Edward Wilson, former Director of the prestigious National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.

Ian McKellen is available for a limited number of interviews by telephone from London prior to arriving in Los Angeles.
