TELEPHONE AND VOICE MAIL FEATURE OPERATION

MERIDIAN 1
TELEPHONE OPERATION / MERIDIAN MAIL

Calling (Lift handset or press round speakerphone button)

·  Internal: Dial a 5-digit ext number.

·  External: Dial 8 followed by the 10-digit number or 1 and the long distance number or 011 and the int’l number.

Last Number Redial

·  Lift handset, press the green line twice and you will redial the last number you called or press your speaker button and press line key once.

Answer a Call Waiting

To answer a second call after you hear a tone or see a flashing phone icon:

1)  Press Hold to put first caller on hold, then press the appropriate line key to answer second caller.

·  To return to first caller, either repeat the above to swap to original caller, or

Press Goodbye to end the call and then press the appropriate line key to return to the previous caller.

Transfer

With the party on the line

2)  Press Trans soft key, dial number.

3)  Announce if introducing parties, press Connect, hang up.

Conference Call

With the first party on the line

1)  Press Conf soft key, dial number, wait for answer.

2)  Announce call then press Connect to connect all parties.

Repeat steps 1 and 2 to add up to five additional parties to the call with you.

Call Pickup - Answer AnotherRinging Phone in Your Area

·  Lift handset, press Pickup soft key (or dial *1).

Fast busy means you’re not in the same call group.

Call Forward – All Calls go to Another Extension or Voice Mail

Phone must be hung up (don’t lift handset)

1)  Press Forward, dial extension where calls should be redirected.

2)  Press Done, and phone LED display will show calls forwarded.

·  Press CheckFW then CancelFW to cancel.

DO NOT forward to voice mail or to someone else who forwards to voice mail unless you have a voice mailbox.

Call Park to retrieve from another extension:

Press Park, (note 4 digits), Press Ok; and from another extension, dial the 4 digits to retrieve call.

First Time CallPilot Mail User:

1)  Dial 95099 or press Message key.

2)  Enter your mailbox (same as your 5-digit extension number), then #.

3)  Enter default password (7 + your 5-digit extension number), then #.

On your first log on session, you must perform the following þ item.

þ Change Password (84)

1)  Logged on, press 8 4.

2)  Enter old password (same as what you just entered when signing on).

3)  Enter a new password, then #.
Passwords must be 5 or more digits long.

4)  Enter new password again, then #.

On your first log on or later, it is recommended you set the following.

Caller Greeting (82)

1)  Logged on, press 8 2.

2)  Select [1]External, [2]Internal or
[3]Temporary Absence greeting or [9] Personal Verification.

3)  Press 5, then record.

4)  Press # to end, press 4 to return.

5)  Repeat above steps for other greetings.

Operator Assistance (801)

To change the answering point for your callers that press zero.

1)  Logged on, press 8 0 1.

2)  Enter the new number, then #.

Log On to CallPilot Mail

1)  Dial 95099 (or 678-839-5099 if not on-campus)

2)  Enter 5-digit mailbox number, then #.

3)  Enter password, then #.

Forward a Message (73)

To one or more other CallPilot users:

1)  Hear message then press 7 3.

2)  Enter mailbox number(s). Press # between recipients. Press # # after the last recipient. (To optionally record comments at the beginning of the message, press 5).

3)  Press 7 9 to send.

Options before sending a message:

Compose & Send A Message (75)

Distribution Lists (855)

1)  Logged on, press 8 5 5.

2)  Enter new list number (1 to 9), followed by # sign.

3)  Press 5, to add members (mailbox numbers). Press # between members, then # # after the last member.

·  To check a list, press 8 5, then the list number followed by # sign, then 2 to hear members.

·  To change a list, delete it (7 6 after hearing list number) and create a new list.

·  To send a message to a list, enter the list number instead of a mailbox number.

Express Messaging

To leave a message for a CallPilot user without ringing their phone:

·  Dial 95098 (or 678-839-5098 if calling from off-campus), then the recipient’s 5-digit mailbox number followed by the # key when prompted.

Transfer Caller to a Mailbox

1)  Press Trans, dial 95098.

2)  Enter the mailbox + #, then press Connect, then hang up.
