What’s Up this Week...
In Shared Reading we readDig, Dig, Diggingby Margaret Mayo. We used the story to talk about our special reading words—Classify and Categorize. During Assigned Centertime we continued to learn about Fall and Fire Safety. During Math Workshop we continued working at our counting and cardinality stations as well as more, less and equal to. During Writer’s Workshop we finished writing and labeling our stories. In Handwriting we practiced writing the letters C, O, Q, and G on our slates on workbook pages.Looking Ahead!
Next week we will be learning aboutSpiders. In Shared Reading we will read Little Panda. We will focus oncomparing and contrasting. During Word Works (phonics time) we will focus on the letter Ss and Pp and the sounds they make. We will also learn three new sight words: for, in, they. In Math we will learn a new game call “Race to Trace”. We will also use tens frames to work on conserving numbers to ten. In Writer’s Workshopwe will begin our new unit called “Labeling”. In Handwriting we will write the letters I, T, J and C on our slates and workbook pages.Important Info
- October 26th is a 1/2 Day for Students.
- October 27th is a Teacher Workday.
What should my child be doing for homework?
- Reading nightly and having you sign and initial his or her log.
- Practicing writing his or her first and last name, if he or she is unable to write it. Help them remember to use uppercase letters only for the first letter.
- The colored folder comes to school daily! Please check it each night!
- Getting to bed on time! By Thursday of each week we can see that kindergarteners get very tired—and it shows in their behavior! Please see that your child gets enough rest so he or she can do their best at school!
- Practicing Sight Word Books. Your child should be able to read and write them!
