Spelling Activities: Complete an activity using your spelling words for the current week. Turn in what you can on Friday with your other homework. If you can’t turn it in, have mom or dad write what activity you did on your homework calendar.

1 / Sign Your Words / Spell each of your words with sign language! Find a chart to help you on our class website or ask your teacher for a copy.
2 / Letter Trail / Hide your words in a letter trail and circle your words in each trail.

3 / Riddle Me / Write a riddle for each of your spelling words.
4 / Memory Game / Write each of your words two times, each one on a different card. Play Memory and flip the cards over to try to find the matches.
5 / Silly Story / Write a silly story using ALL of your spelling words. You can illustrate the story when you are done if you want.
6 / Tongue Twisters / Choose five of your spelling words and write a tongue twister sentence using each of them in a sentence. (All words will start with the same letter. Example: Pink pigs play the piano.) Underline the spelling word.
7 / Finger Tracing / Use your finger to spell out each of your words one letter at a time on your Mom or Dad’s back. Then it’s YOUR turn to feel them spell the words.
8 / Computer Writing / Type your words on the computer, print out, and bring to school. Have fun and change the fonts and colors.
9 / Geo Greeting / Go to http://geogreeting.com/ and type your spelling words. See your words made out of building around the world!
You may have to do 5 words at a time.
If you want, have your parents help you email your words to your teacher.
10 / Trace Around / Print one of your spelling words neatly. Take a colored pen and draw an outline around the whole word, closely following the shapes of the letters. Close your eyes and remember the shape. Now try to write the word again.
11 / ABC Order / Write all your spelling words in ABC order then write them in reverse ABC order.
12 / Word Search or
Cross Word / Go to http://www.puzzlemaker.com and make a word search or cross word puzzle using your spelling words.
13 / Spelling Baseball / Draw four bases on a piece of paper or set up four chairs to be the bases. Pitcher selects a word. If batter can spell it correctly, he moves forward one base. If batter cannot spell word, he remains where he is. Keep playing until you’ve spelled all of your words and see you many runs you can get!
14 / Spelling Comic / Create a comic strip using each of your spelling words. Print the blank comic strip from our class website or ask the teacher for one ahead of time.
15 / Spelling City / Go to http://www.spellingcity.com/ Type in your words and learn, play games, or take a test! Make sure you mix up the order of your words.
