The Trace Meetings with the Jewish Culture in Radom

Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Liquidation of the Jews

from the Radom Ghetto

The Jews were nearly a third of Radom's citizens in 1939. Every year in April during The Trace Meetings with the Jewish Culture, Resursa Obywatelska Culture and Arts Center tells the story of the Jewish community of Radom and commemorates their contribution to Radom's development. This year, The Trace event takes place in August and commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the Radom Ghetto Liquidation and near total annihilation of Radom's Jewish community. It falls on the exact date of that event. While we celebrate the contributions of the Jewish people to Radom we also reflect upon the destruction of this important part of our community. You are welcome to take part in these historical events.

August 3rd (Thursday)

6.00 PM - Jewish Motifs - opening of an exhibition of priest Wladyslaw Paciak's artwork (Mazovian Centre of Contemporary Art Elektrownia – Traugutta St.)

7.00 PM - Ghost Citizens: Jewish Returns to a Postwar City - meeting with Łukasz Krzyżanowski - the author of the book (Resursa Obywatelska Culture and Arts Center – 16 Malczewskiego St.)

August 4th (Friday)

5.00 PM - The Trace- exhibition on the history of Radom Jews; The Book of Radom: The Story of a Jewish Community in Poland Destroyed by the Nazis - promotion of the first Polish edition of the book (both events in Resursa Obywatelska Culture and Arts Center – 16 Malczewskiego St.)

9.00 PM - The Beethoven Quartet – Resursa amateur theatre performing Waldemar Nowakowski's dramatic story about the love of music and the liquidation of the Glinice ghetto in Radom with music performed live ( open air event in Rozik's Park – entrance from Lubonskiego St.)

August 5th (Saturday)

6.00 PM - Home – Radom - meeting with the former Jewish citizens of Radom and their descendants; testimonies of the Righteous Among the Nations from Radom ( Resursa Obywatelska)

8.00 PM – Inauguration of The Trace Jewish Memorial Route in Radom; Nina Stiller's concert Jidysze Pearl (open air event at Plac Stare Miasto – the Old Town Square)

9.30 PM - Tent of Meeting - documentary movies on the history of Radom's Jewish community produced byResursa Obywatelska Culture and Arts Center; Panie/Panowie Restaurant will serve dishes of Jewish cuisine (open air event in the garden of The ArkYouth Centerat Plac Stare Miasto – the Old Town Square)

August 6th (Sunday)

10.00 AM - Those Rhythms - Interpretation of Jewish songs through movement and music – workshops with Nina Stiller (Resursa Obywatelska Culture and Arts Center)

10.00 AM – The Beginning of the Book part V –happening based on the list of Radom ghetto's residents; guided tour of The Trace Jewish Memorial Route(begins at Bozniczna St. - the Synagogue site)

12.00 AM – Unveiling of a memorial plaque devoted to Chaim Kincler – last head of the Beit Radom Association in Israel (Jewish Cemetery – Towarowa St.), concert by Gypsy/Roma band Bahtale Manasha (near the Jewish Cemetery)

8.00 PM - The Crown Jewels - multimedia presentation on the history of Radom's Jewish community with music performed live (Bozniczna St. - the Synagogue site)

During The Trace Jewish Festival, Panie/Panowie Restaurant at Pilsudskiego St. will serve dishes of Jewish cuisine
