*CALL TO WORSHIP
One: We stand before the Lord this day; the Lord of the burning bush and the cloud
upon the mountain.
All: To God be praise and glory! This is the Lord of our lives.
One: To Christ be praise and glory. This is the Savior who makes all things new.
All: We acknowledge the Holy Spirit who enables us, seen in the descending
dove, heard in the rushing wind and tongues of fire.
One: To the holy Spirit all praise and glory! This is the One who empowers us.
All: Even now in this time, in this place we have seen signs of God’s
presence, and it ismarvelous in our eyes. Come, let us sing our praise!

CALL TO CONFESSION- Liturgist Don Pope
The God revealed to us in the pages of scripture is a welcoming and inclusive God who directs us to love one another. We seek to remove all the barriers that keep us from that love. Come now to confess all that separates you from others and from God.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION – Congregation
Almighty Father; we enter your presence confessing the things we try to conceal from you and the things we try to conceal from others. We confess the heartbreak, worry, and sorrow we have caused, that make it difficult for others to forgive us, the times we have made it easy for others to do wrong, the harm we have done that makes it hard for us to forgive ourselves. Lord have mercy and forgive us through Christ, who is ever more ready to help us than we are to ask. Amen.
SILENT MEDITATION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our custom is to join hands for the Lord’s Prayer.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
WORDS OF ASSURANCE – Liturgist
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send Jesus into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Friends, believe the good news of the gospel: In Jesus Christ, our sins are forgiven.

Reel Theology – Sunday Night at the Movies - Shadows and Fog (1992)
Our next film event will be Sunday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. at the home of Doug and Dale St. Denis, 1504 Parkview Pl.
Woody Allen produced and directed this tribute to German Expressionist films from the 1920s, directly imitating filmmakers F. W. Murnau and Fritz Lang. To create the surreal feeling of this type of cinema (not to mention the effects of fog), Allen shot this work on the largest set ever constructed in New York.
With a serial strangler on the loose, a bookkeeper wanders around town searching for the vigilante group intent on catching the killer. The ever present fog adds to the difficulty of “seeing” what is actually going on. Slapstick lines from Allen (starring as the hapless bookkeeper buffeted about by the town’s confusion) and questions about God, make this a difficult film to describe. Many critics panned it, others saw a deeper inquiry, half serious, half comedic, being played out.
The impressive cast includes Mia Farrow, John Malkovich, Madonna, Lily Tomlin, Jodie Foster, Kathy Bates, John Cusack, John C. Reilly, Cate Nelligan, Fred Gwynne and William H. Macy. The hospitality of our hosts and discussion of this film should offer some great reflection on what keeps us from “seeing” what is before our eyes. Join us!
Thanksgiving Eve Service, Nov. 21, 7 p.m., Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7th St., and C Avenue, sponsored by the Coronado Council of Churches. Join together with fellow Christians to thank God for all our blessings. Mike Stone, Pastoral Associate at Christ Episcopal Church will be leading the service.
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH – Congregation
We believe in God, who in every age has called women and men to journey on an unknown path, towards a destination fraught with promise. We believe in Jesus as the Christ, who revealed the cost of traveling on this path, and who lived and died following God’s Way. We believe in the Spirit of Christ, who in every moment brings us into company with those who will shed light on our journey and be our help in times of trouble. We believe in one another, in the friendship we know and claim here, and the integrity of life and faith. And we believe in ourselves, and the truth we live as God’s people in this place, especially when we are challenged to witness to the God-given hope that is in us. Amen.
*THE HYMN RESPONSE Paul E. Hoffman
There is nothing in the heav’ns above, nor in hidden depths of earth
that can keep the Savior’s love from us, for by his sinless death
God’s Son has conquered ev’ry foe. There is nothing left to fear.
For God’s love, God’s love is always near.

“How Much Is Enough?”
HYMN OF DEDICATION
“Surely the Presence of the Lord”
In the midst of His children the Lord said He would be,
It doesn’t take very many, it can be just two or three.
And I feel that same sweet spirit that I’ve felt oft times before:
Surely I can say I’ve been with the Lord.
(REFRAIN) Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place,
I can feel His mighty power and His grace.
I can feel the brush of angel wings, I see glory on each face.
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.
In the holy hush around us as God’s glory fills the place,
I’ve touched the hem of His garment, I can almost see His face.
And my heart is overflowing with the fullness of His joy;
I know without a doubt that I’ve been with the Lord. (REFRAIN)
