Job context: / The Royal College of Physicians of London plays a pivotal role in setting the standards and through a variety of activities, influences the quality of medical practice in hospitals. It conducts examinations, carries out training, education and research activities and advises the Government and the profession on health and medical matters.
With nearly twenty percent of our subscribing Members and Fellows based overseas, across more than 80 countries, international relations are important to the RCP. The UK has a strong network of doctors around the world who completed part, or all, of their training in the UK and our sponsorship schemes for international medical graduates helps to ensure that this situation will continue in the future, thereby helping to maintain our reputation and aid the sharing of knowledge in medicine.
Purpose and scope: / The purpose of the post is to provide administrative support within the International Office, working in particular on issues concerning International Medical Graduates.
Working within a team the post holder is responsible for liaising with enquirers; dealing with applications; attending and organising related meetings and providing briefing and statistical information as well as contributing to the general work of the office

Works closely with: / IMG manager, head of international affairs, associate international director for IMGs
Major responsibilities: / ·  Responsible, together with the IMG Manager, for applications to the International Sponsorship Scheme (ISS), the Clinical Placements Initiative (CPI) and Medical Training Initiative (MTI). This includes:
·  Advising International Medical Graduates, UK consultants and NHS staff on the schemes
·  Processing applications to schemes for start to finish
·  Liaising with and supporting the IMG Panel,
·  Maintaining the sponsorship database
·  Ensuring monitoring and evaluation of the scheme is carried out
·  Organise and arrange meetings and visits as appropriate, both at the RCP and internationally (including travel arrangements).
·  Answering enquiries on International Medical Graduate issues by phone, email, letter and in person
·  Responsible for placements for Chinese doctors from the Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau, including identifying placements, providing briefing materials for the doctors, arranging introduction and debrief meetings and meeting at the airport.
·  At times it may be necessary to attend meetings and events outside of the core hours of work.
·  Any other duties as may be reasonably expected and which are commensurate with the level of the post.

Salary scale: / Grade D
