  1. Course Description:

All students have completed Microsoft Office Applications I and are perfect candidates for this higher-level course. All assignments and projects will build on student’s previous knowledge and will integrate analytical skills necessary for success in the business world. Students will use documents, databases, spreadsheets, and presentations to evaluate information and furnish observations and solutions. Upon completion of the course, students will be an intermediate level user of the Microsoft Office Suite.

This course is also the completion course for the Gwynedd-Mercy College Dual-Enrollment Program. If the student takes Microsoft Office Applications I and achieves a “C” or higher the student may enroll in Microsoft Office Applications II and for a FEE of $300 will earn 3 Undergraduate Credits from Gwynedd-Mercy College that may be transferable to most post-Secondary Intuitions. The grade that the student earns in Microsoft Office Applications II will be the grade on the student’s College transcript from Gwynedd-Mercy College and will also be the grade on the student’s Pennsbury High School transcript.

  • Compass Searchable Database
  • Storage device for storing files (i.e., flash drive).
  • Ear buds for online tutorials.
  • Pen and pencil, notebook, 2-pocket folder or binder for papers.
  1. Objectives:
  • The student will be able to demonstrate the mastery applications by creating and manipulating specific data instructions through various online exercises and real-life hands-on activities.
  • The student will be required to read, listen, learn and apply various application skills.
  • The student will be able to use multiple resources to problem solve and answer their own questions.
  • The student will be able to use online tools to share files and collaborate with others.
  • The student will demonstrate skills such as time-management and self-motivation to complete assignments accurately and on time.

  • Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Google Drive
  • Each Chapter will include the following:
  • PowerPoint Introduction of the chapter
  • Chapter Reading, Referencing, and Vocabulary
  • Hands-On Exercises with Annotated Solutions
  • Open book/assignment quizzes
  • Project Assessments (Capstone)
  • Unit Tests (1 each for Word, Excel, Access, PPT) – Not open book
  • Final Project: Discipline-Specific Capstones

  1. Attendance:

Attendance is mandatory, and is strictly based on the Pennsbury High School’s attendance policy. If you miss a class for any reason,you are missing 90 minutes of valuable instruction and production time. In order to receive full credit, you will be required to make up any missed assignments within a reasonable timeframe, up to the next Educational Opportunity Period (EOP). Missed work may not be completed at home. When absent, it is your responsibilityto check the calendar and speak with me about missed work.

  1. Classroom Procedures & Policies:

Be respectful of your instructor and fellow classmates at all times. No foul language. Keep your hands to yourself.

As a courtesy, please do not talk, type,print or exit the room while the instructor is talking to the class or when a student is asking a question that pertains to the class.

Follow directions the first time they are given.

BE ON TIME, logged onto the computer, and ready to begin when the bell rings.

Absolutely no phones, MP3 players, or any other type of electronic devices. There will be no warnings about this.

Bathroom break - one at a time. Fill out and take the clipboard – it is your hall pass.

You are encouraged to work with fellow students to solve problems for class work. However, you must complete your own work. Copying data is cheating.

Computers are to be used for class work only. No surfing the web or playing video games at any time.

Leave the room the way you found it – or better.

No unauthorized use of the computers: no e-mailing, no surfing, no game playing. Do not tamper with the computers in any way.

  1. Create Quia Account:

Step 1. Go to the Quia website at

Step 2. Click the area labeled Students. When the next page appears, enter your username and password if you already have a Quia account. If you do not have an account, click the link Create my free account. Fill out the form that appears.

Account type = "Student"

Username = your first initial and last name – all lower case

Password = your student number

Your first and last name = Use upper and lower case! Ex: John Smith

Your email address = make sure this is valid in case you need to communicate with Quia or me.

When you are done, press the Create my account button.

Step 3. You should now be in the Student Zone. Type in the class code that your teacher gives you in the text field and press the Add class button. Now you're done!
