SUBJECT: (COUNTY NAME) County Deer Advisory Council to meet to determine final recommendations for the 2017 deer season
[CITY], Wis.—The public has a final opportunity to provide comments on antlerless deer harvest quota, permit level and season structure recommendations for (COUNTY NAME) County.
The council will hold its final spring meeting on April XX at (TIME AND LOCATION). At this meeting, the council will receive additional public comments prior to developing final recommendations.
The council’s preliminary recommendations, formed during its March meeting, are available for review at dnr.wi.gov, keyword “CDAC,” by clicking “Find” and selecting (COUNTY NAME). Councils considered scientific data and public opinion when developing their preliminary recommendations.

The council has recommended a harvest quota of XXXX, with XXXX private land and XXXX public land antlerless permits available to hunters.
The council has recommended a harvest quota of XXXX in the Forest Zone and YYYYY in the Farmland Zone, with XXXX private land and XXXX public land antlerless permits available in the Forest Zone and YYYY private land and YYYY public land antlerless permits available in the Farmland Zone.
In line with the zero quota recommendation, the council is also recommending that junior antlerless permits not be valid in the county for the 2017 deer seasons.
The council also recommends offering X county-specific Farmland Zone antlerless permits with each license.
To reduce deer numbers in metro subunits, the council also recommends that X county-specific metro antlerless permits are offered with each license and XXX bonus metro antlerless permits are available for purchase, with XXX on private land and XXX on public land.
The council is also recommending an antlerless-only Holiday Hunt for the 2017 deer season.
To help decrease the deer herd, the council recommends antlerless-only hunts for all 2017 deer seasons.***
These recommendations are expected to (INCREASE/DECREASE) the county’s deer herd (by XX%).
To develop its final recommendations, the council will consider online input and other public comments along with professional assessments from Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologists, foresters and law enforcement. (COUNTY NAME) County’s final quota, permit level and season structure recommendations will be presented to the DNR following the April meeting, and will then advance to the Natural Resources Board for approval in May. Once approved, the recommendations will take effect for the 2017 deer hunting season.
