NOTE: FIBER PRODUCTS NEED TO BE SEPARATED FROM CONTAINERS

CONTAINERS

METAL CANS

Rinse or clean thoroughly, removing all food residue. Remove paper labels and discard.

ACCEPTED: Aluminum cans, steel (tin) cans, bi-metal cans, clean aluminum foil & aluminum pie plates.

NOT ACCEPTED: Cans with food residue, paint cans, aerosol cans & lids which are not all metal.

GLASS BOTTLES & JARS

Rinse or clean thoroughly, remove all food residue. Remove lids & discard. You do not need to remove labels or metal rings around the necks of bottles.

ACCEPTED: Green, brown & clear bottles & jars.

NOT ACCEPTED: Bottles & jars with food residue, window glass, mirrors, drinking glasses & light bulbs.

PLASTICS

Rinse or clean thoroughly, removing all residue, especially from detergent & chemical bottles.

ACCEPTED: #1 such as soda, cooking oil & liquor bottles, peanut butter jars & #2 milk, water & juice jugs, bleach & detergent bottles.

NOT ACCEPTED: #3 water & cooking oil bottles & health & beauty aid bottles. Any plastic bottle or container which is not thoroughly cleaned. Motor oil or antifreeze containers & plastic bags.

FIBER PRODUCTS

NEWSPAPERS

Remove & discard any plastic bags used in delivery. Protect from rain; newspapers should not be wet.

ACCEPTED: Newspapers, inserts that come with the newspaper.

NOT ACCEPTED: Wet newspapers & newspapers in plastic bags.

CARDBOARD

Flatten all cardboard boxes.

ACCEPTED: Corrugated (Wavy) cardboard & paper grocery sacks.

NOT ACCEPTED: Any cardboard which is wax coated or contaminated with oil, chemicals or food residue (like pizza) and styrofoam packing.

PAPER, WHITE

Remove post-it notes and any other attachments (staples are OK). Discard window envelopes.

ACCEPTED: Computer paper (blue & green bar is ok), white bond paper, letterhead and most junk mail.

NOT ACCEPTED: Paper in any color other than white, notebook paper & school papers and window envelopes.

MAGAZINES & BOOKS

ACCEPTED: Magazines printed on “slick” paper, catalogs printed on “slick” paper and paperback books.

NOT ACCEPTED: Phone books & hardbound books.

PAPERBOARD

Remove and discard any inner bag, plastic viewing window or outside shrink wrap.

ACCEPTED: Paperboard includes cereal boxes & tissue boxes (gray or brown inside). Bleach board includes toothpaste & medicine boxes (white throughout).

NOT ACCEPTED: Any paperboard of bleach board with a wax coating. Any paperboard of bleach board contaminated with food residue.
