A stiff climb on a sunny day for Steven Gore in the Staveley 17k Trail Challenge

Rob Danson clocked up an impressive win in the Blackpool 10k along a new course taking in more of North Promenade and finishing uphill north of Ginn Square. He came in with a three-minute lead in 33:20 on the warmest day of the year at that time with a gusty easterly wind. Lee Barlow finished 15th in his lead up to the European Masters Non-Stadia Championships to be held in Portugal with 37:55 placing 3rd Over-36-year old. Elder brother Jason also in the European Championships had the edge over his sibling and finished 1st Over-46 in 14th place with 37:28, also holding off Wesham team mate Troy Watson by 47 seconds who came in 2nd Over-46 and 17th in 38:15. Jonathan Lawson was 159th in 47:51. Robert Danson Senior was 349th with 53:53. Nigel Shepherd won the Over-56 age category with 43:30 for 56th place overall; and George Kennedy was 3rd in 45:53, 104th overall. Phil Leaver finished 7th over 56 in 49:01, 200th overall, with Mick Edge 8th and 214th in 49:28. John Howorth was 697th with 59:07. Peter Bartlett was 5th Over 66 in 50:22, 244th overall with Dave Young father of race organiser Linzi 6th with 52:33 in 316th place, just holding off Over-70 Dave Waywell who came in 7th Over-66 in 53:33, 339th overall. In the ladies Elizabeth Jones was 156th in 47:36; Nicola Unsworth 4th Over-36 and 103rd in 45:52; Carmell Sullivan first Over-46 in 67th place with 44:05; Sara Ward 8th Over-46 and 269th in 51:17; Bernadette Dickinson 11th Over-46 in 52:48 (324th); Debbie Myerscough 377th in 54:25; and Kath Hoyer 1st Over-56 in 246th place with 50:32.

Simon Eaton and Russell Mabbett both took part in the Three Peaks Race two weeks ago, 24 miles and 5276 ft of climb around the circuit from Horton in Ribblesdale taking in Pen y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Simon finished 396th in a time of 4:34:32, and Russell was 628th with 5:11:32.

In the Blacksticks Blue 10k from Inglewhite on Sunday David Taylor was 8th in 39:46 on the hilly course up around the flanks of Beacon Fell with a significant climb to the top of the ring road at the visitor centre. Gary Barnett was close behind in 9th place with 39:59, just scraping under the 40 minute barrier. Alan Taylor was 110th in 53:32 and Paul Carter 147th with 57:48.

David Taylor finished 7th in the opening round of the Kendal 10 Lakeland 10k series, clocking 37:42 on the out-and-back course featuring a hilly middle section on the turnaround triangle. Chris Moss was 72nd with 49:33, 16th Over-50.

Paul Gregory finished 3rd in the Staveley Kentmere Trail Challenge 17k, completing the course in 1:30:01. Steven Gore was 9th in 1:32:42. Helen Lawrenson was 14th woman and 6th W40 running 1:50:55. Jason Blagden ran the Trail 10k, finishing 52nd with 1:05:19. Diane Blagden came in 254th in a time of 1:26:53.

Helen Lawrenson ran the Avenham Park 5k on Bank Holiday Monday and she finished 46th with 21:54 as 4th woman and 1st W45. Jason Blagden finished 50th in 22:16; Paul Carter was 126th in 26:46; and Diane Blagden was 130th with 27:00.

David Taylor ran the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday morning in 18:01 for an age graded performance of 71.69%. Phil Leaver was 24:15 for an M60 67.29%. Dave Young ran 24:26 for M65 70.60; Sharon Cooper 24:34 for W40 63.09%; Finlay McCalman 26:45 for M50 56.01; and Ben Wrigley 27:49 for M35 47.39%. In the Preston parkrun Gemma Owen ran 22:27 for W35 66.59%; Nicola Unsworth 22:36 for W45 70.28%; George Kennedy 22:47 for M55 69.20%; Tracey Hulme 22:48 for W50 76.39%; Robert Brown 25:03 for M55 62.94%; Paul Carter 27:34 for M45 51.81%, and Graham Vickers 27:34 for M55 57.19%.
