ANGELS - part 2

Part 1 looked at who and what angels are, along with some characteristics and their history of representing God (metonymy). Now let’s look a little closer at their work.

I. Angels have Always Watched Over God's People

A. Psalms 34:7- Godly people, an established prin.

B. Numbers 20:16; Exodus 23:20 - Israelites knew it

1. Joshua 5:13-15; Judges 2:1-4; Isaiah 63:9

C. Matthew 18:10, babes (in Christ?)

1. Hebrews would know about angels

2. Hebrews 1:14; 12:22-23

II. As Watchers and Guardians and Destroyers, They are Tools of God’s Providence

A. Daniel 10:13-14,20; 11:1; 12:1

1. Worked with Jesus under the Old Testament

B. Hebrews 1:13-14; Revelation 22:8-9

1. Work with Jesus under the New Testament

C. Matthew 28:2; Revelation 1:1;

1. Acts 5:19;8:26; 10:3-7; 12:7, 23; 27:23

2. ”render service” for those who inherit….

D. They are good examples of servants of God,

1. Angels do all he asks, whatever he asks

2. Understanding all this we should understand….

III. We Should Know Angels are Not Our Authority

A. Hebrews 2:6-9 (Psalms 8:5)

1. Man is created just a little lower for now

B. Hebrews 2:5- we are not/will be subject to angels

C. 1 Corinthians 6:3 vs. 2 Peter 2:4

1. We shall “judge” the world, like Hebrews 11:7

D. Galatians 1:8- angels are NOT leading us

1. ….like Israel out of Egypt \ the WORD does

E. 2 Thessalonians 1:7- will definitely see angels someday

IV. Points from Earlier Study?

A. God doesn’t make junk, a purpose for everything

B. Are you living for self or for God, angels teach..

1. Disobedient ones reserved in darkness for judgment

2. Faithful one is in gleaming white, glorious

C. When you see angels, will it be a welcome sight?
