CAI is looking to expand our team of Shipboard Applications & Infrastructure Project Managers for the cruise line industry. This is a great opportunity for people who are seeking a challenging, exciting and fast-paced environment that includes 30-40% travel. You will be responsible to deliver shipboard technology projects in support of improved guest experiences and more efficient operations. This is a long term contract position - initial 6 months engagement will be extended based upon performance.

Scope of work:

The Shipboard Application Project Manager manages a team of business analysts, infrastructure and software engineers constructing and maintaining mission-critical, high-visibility applications and hardware in direct support of client's business objectives. The ideal candidate for this role has a technical leadership background in addition to a deep and modern project management foundation. The Shipboard Project Manager is expected to continually evolve internal development processes/procedures, effectively manage a team of 5 - 10 engineers, and deliver projects on time and budget in a highly diverse, dynamic and evolving environment. Adaptability is a must.

Oversees the implementation of the new system; develops project plans, prepares and conducts weekly status meetings as well as the allocation of the resources and the establishment of the timeline(s) commitments and the adherence that the timeline is met, in conjunction with the IT Program Manager.

This person must be a leader, self-driven, and possess an above the line attitude willing to work under little supervision. Will be reporting to the Program Manager on this initiative. Must be able to present work samples.

Manages and organizes the IT application deployment for Fidelio and existing applications tied to the systems.

Provides technical leadership, trouble shooting, procedural support and solutions to enterprise

Responsibilities:

  • Determine the project approach, staffing, responsibilities, and schedule.
  • Develop and/or review estimates and estimating assumptions for the project’s schedule, effort, and cost using established estimating models, best practices, and past experience. The resulting estimates account for all activities in the project scope, including project management and application development tasks, software quality assurance reviews, and vendor and contract management activities.
  • Define team member roles and expectations, and ensure timely feedback. Ensure that project resources receive any necessary training and are used effectively.
  • Review, and be responsible for, the overall development and integration of requirements.
  • Measure and monitor progress at clearly defined points in the process to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and that it meets or exceeds expectations. Balance scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risks. Make adjustments as necessary.
  • Define the project iterations strategy. Manage and evaluate iterations.
  • With other leads, develop, implement, and maintain the Project Plan, including the configuration management, risk management, project measurement, and quality management plans.
  • Ensure that all requirements, project plans, and changes to commitment are communicated to all affected team members.
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations. Manage relationships with all suppliers and subcontractors. Monitor their progress and adherence to the contract.
  • Ensure that the project team follows all quality assurance processes, including periodic reviews and transitions.
  • Participate in quality management reviews.
  • Review and manage all changes to the requirements through a formally defined scope change process.
  • Represent the project team in IT and Business meetings. Obtain buy-in from senior management for all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, quality assurance plans, budget, schedule, and scope changes.
  • Ensure that the project’s assigned portion of the Business Case planned value is delivered.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years experience in Project Management, preferably in a technical environment
  • 2+ years experience in Project Management in the Travel & Leisure Industry (Ship Project experience preferred)
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred
  • Ability to work well with a wide variety of people with varying technical skill sets and business knowledge is required (from the very abstract to the very granular.)
  • Proven team leadership or project management experience
  • Necessary Skills, Abilities, and other Qualities:
  • Must have strong application development and/or technical infrastructure experience
  • Must have solid understanding of full project life cycle and management methodologies
  • Must have excellent communication (oral and written) and interface effectively with all levels of management as well as the technical team, and concisely, logically and accurately present issues verbally and in written format.
  • Effectively coordinate communications between/among cross functional teams, resolve conflict and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving, supervisory experience and team leadership skills
  • Must be a strong team player and have good interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Fosters a team environment and demonstrates the ability to promote the team environment, yet work individually on each person's skill development
  • Must possess excellent organizational, time management, judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and focused on high quality delivery of work products; willing to accept responsibility and accountability

Travel Description:

This position requires a valid US passport. Contractor must have access to a major credit card for travel expenses.

Travel to development and testing facilities, as well as to ships for actual deployments.
