Purpose of Meeting: To discuss procedures necessary to create all of the new Exchange accounts.
Current Exchange users, needing to be moved to the Active Directory:
- Start immediately with setting up active directory IDs.
- Have all current Exchange users moved to the Active Directory by June 11, 2002.
Process for Current Exchange users:
- Submit to a spreadsheet with required information.
- Accounts will set up an Active Directoryaccount, with the new default password of a lowercase u + last 7 numbers of the owner’s UK ID number. The password for the Active Directory account will be immediately expired, and the user must change the password before they can access the Exchange mailbox. It’s recommended they be changed at the web site:
- After the list of current users have been moved over to the Active Directory, CSC, Account Services will email the list back to the sender along with a carbon copy to Dan Durbin (257-2468) or Victoria Purvis (257-2548).
- The sender will notify the techs who will help the user change the default password or instruct the owner on to how they change it.
- The tech will notify Dan and/or Victoria when they are ready for the mailbox domain to be changed. After Dan or Victoria move the mailboxes from the UKY domain to the AD domain, theywill call the tech letting them know the users are ready to go.
- The new password is good for 90 days.
Process for New Exchange users:
- Submit to a spreadsheet (separate from the current user’s list) with required information.
- New accounts require the owner be located in the HRS system along with their department’s account number listed in the FRS system.
- After the new users list are setup within the Active Directory, CSC, Account Services will email the list to Dan Durbin (257-2468) or Victoria Purvis (257-2548). Dan and/or Victoria will setup the mailboxes, holding onto the list until a Tech calls them saying they are ready.
- All new users will first need the client setup on their desktop before receiving their account ID. External users are not covered by the campus Microsoft license agreements and will require a separate license agreement.
Attached is the spreadsheet with the required information for Account Services.
