Dzięn Dobry Państwo!
Good Day, Greetings Everyone! Welcome to Suligowski’s Regiment(of Sobieski’s Command), the very first Living History group in American History, to portray the mighty 17th Century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth …Born in early 1998, and finding no 17th century Polish period representation anywhere in the U.S., we quickly established ourselves in 2000, among the west coast Renaissance festival and military timeline events in addition to Polish cultural events, lectures, parades and other public cultural events from coast-to-coast. Today, we are recognized and acknowledged by dozens of American Polonia Polish-American Organizations, known internationally and in the very heart of Poland itself, where we have been seen on Polish Satellite television & on our ‘Brother’ website ‘Winged Hussar’ and made U.S. History in the 2002 NYC Pulaski Parade and have been the March 2008 ‘Featured Cover Story’ of TODAY’S VINTGE Magazine!
Originally, founded by Greenpoint, Brooklynite,Rik(Sulima~Suligowski)Fox,a former Polish-American 1980’s rock star, (WASP,STEELER, SIN), and of actual documented Szlachta (noble) ancestry of the Polish Clan ofSulima, the Sulima Clan legacy is carried on inSuligowski’s Regimentportraying the 17th century military forces of central Europe as well as Poland’s allies and enemies. Eventually followed by other groups such as Bołesław Orlicki’s Light Artillery, Kątski’s Regiment and Czarniecki’s Division,Suligowski’s Regimenthas paved the way in this relatively new movement of central European living history re-enactments in the United States today, creating an exciting new venue in which to realize and portray one’s Slavic and/or European ancestry.
Amongst the various military impressions, such as the Wybraniecka and Haiduk infantry, can be found the Light Cavalry, Pancerni, Cossack, and especially the most spectacular-looking & famous cavalry forces of the epoch, the legendary Polish winged hussars! These Towarszysz (toh-var-szeesh-Comrades) amongst their many famous battles, were the saviors of Europe at theBattle of Vienna-1683, as portrayed bySuligowski’s Regiment(of Sobieski’s Command).
If you haven’t seen them or have heard about them from the thousands who have already seen them, hurry, and experience them for yourselves! You too, will be awed by the mighty forces ofSuligowski’s Regiment(of Sobieski’s Command)!
