Staying Physically Active for a Lifetime
for the student who is medically excused
A WebQuest for Physical Education
Introduction
Physical education is a great time to release some energy and have fun! While you’re missing today’s physical activity, I want you to learn about a lifetime sport of your choice.
Unfortunately, when you get older and finish school, you won’t have as much time to get together a large group of friends to play many physical games such as basketball or football.Lifetime sports are activities that can be played throughout your lifetime and don’t require a large group. Some examples of lifetime sports include: biking, golfing, swimming, rock climbing, tennis, canoeing and walking. There are also plenty more to choose.
Task
- You are to select a lifetime sport or activity that seems interesting to you. Remember, a lifetime sport is an activity that you can play by yourself (or small group) for many years.
- Learn more about this lifetime sport by exploring information on the World Wide Web.
Process
- Review the web sites listed in the references below. You may also use websites that you are familiar with or simply use a search engine.
- Answer ALL of the questions on the worksheet in a 5 page paper and return it to your PE teacher in a timely fashion (one assignment per 2 weeks while on medical. 7 pages total with a bibliography & title page).
