Present position: Assistant Chief Technologist (Engineering)

My present position as an Assistant Chief Technologist in charge of Electrical Engineering Laboratories at Covenant University, Ota has increased my responsibilities in the management of men and materials and also expanded my thinking ability in terms of ideas generation, conceptual designs of technical systems including modern engineering maintenance practice.

Summary of Career Episodes and Projects

March – August
1983: SIWES (ITF) / ECRAVOS – WARRI PIPELINE PROJECT PHASE II
The project was undertaken by NNPC/CHEVRON. As an internship attached to NNPC, I worked as one of the Project Engineers. I participated in the design of electrical systems, instrumentation and the Telecommunications of the entire Tank farm including the Central Control Room.
I also worked with the Consulting Engineers in the design of the Electrical power systems including the installation and commissioning of 4 x 4MW Gas Turbine power plants
August 1984 – July 1985:
NYSC Program / I was deployed to National Sports Commission and I worked as Project/ Maintenance Engineer responsible for the supervision of the maintenance of the facilities in National Stadium in Lagos and Liberty Stadium, Ibadan. I was directly in charge of the electronics scoreboard programme planning, operation and maintenance.
I designed Equipment Database Systems to facilitate the maintenance of the facilities and other infrastructures that require regular maintenance.
I introduced Equipment Auditing and different types of maintenance techniques including Preventive Maintenance and organized equipment maintenance trainings for their Technical Staff until it became their culture even at the management level.
I also supervised some of their infrastructural projects under construction as part of my assignments.
1985 -1992:
University of Ilorin: Research Engineer / My responsibities as a Research Engineer at the University of Ilorin was very exciting and challenges. I worked with Research Fellows and other Faculty Members to put head together and brainstorm on many engineering and technical concepts and ideas in other to translate those ideas and concepts to realities and physical products. I was involved in many electrical and electronics designs and technical innovations. I carried out several designs of Amplifiers – Audio Amplifiers, Video Amplifiers, Filters and many electrical interfacing circuits that were used in various research equipment, temperature sensors, and pressure gauge.
I was also involved in maintenance of different types of laboratory (Teaching & Research) equipment, design modification and systems integration. I served in several committees and I supervised many engineering and Technical projects in the university.
To enhance my engineering and technical knowledge in new technology development, I enrolled for postgraduate studies in Electrical Power Systems and Instrumentation at the department of Electrical Engineering in the same university.
It was an exciting experience
1992 – 1993
IBM(DPMS)/SHELL,
Lagos/Port Harcourt:
Resident Electrical Engineer / Having resigned my appointment at University of Ilorin, I joined IBM/ Special Projects as a Resident Electrical Engineer (Engineer Engineer). The position carried a lot of responsibilities, such as supervision and management of host computer systems and the peripherals, which included MAINS FRAME COMPUTERS, AS 400, Sophisticated Line printers, X-Y Plotters, Jet Printers and other instrumentation used for Oil Exploitation, Exploration, Crude Oil Mining and Processing, in addition, I performed other roles as Consultants to some sensitive areas of SPDS operations, Trainings of the SHELL staff on the use of workstations applications in Oil & Gas operations……
1993 -1995
NCR/AT&T, Lagos:
Facilities Engineer / I joined the company as a Facilities Engineer, my responsibilities are:
  • To oversee and supervise the maintenance of the facilities and infrastructures in the organization
  • Design and Development of equipment database for ease of maintenance
  • Power systems distribution remodeling and implementation
  • Etc…

1996 -2003
ADE INSTRUMENTS LTD, LAGOS:
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR / The company is engaged in Power Engineering Projects and Services.
My responsibilities are:
  • To call the meeting of Board of Directors from time to time to appraise and evaluate the progress of the company
  • To compare the company’s progress chart with set goals
  • To make policies that will assist the company achieve her set goals
  • To seek projects/contracts that were viable for rapid development of the company
  • Etc…

Covenant University, Ota:
Assist. Chief Technologist (Engineering Laboratories) / Responsibilities:
  • To create, operate and maintain a safe and professional engineering laboratory environment
  • Provide Technical Support, Assistance and Resolution when electrical engineering challenges are encountered
  • To assign responsibilities to other Technologists on the laboratory class demonstration and experiments
  • To design model laboratory experiments for Faculty, Staff and Students

  • Industrial Energy Efficiency Performance Assessment: Two Manufacturing Companies at Agbara Industrial Estate, Ogun- State
  • Renewable Energy Research in Covenant University in Collaboration with Energy-Planet in Germany
Iam seriously involved in the research activities; the research started by studying the energy profile of the entire university.
The methodology adopted is by first carrying out the energy survey/ audit of the university campus to determine energy consumption pattern and also to identify different load and their characteristics……

I regularly attend technical and professional presentations given by renowned Academics and other Professionals from industries and other reputable institutions.
I have participated in both international and local conferences on modern engineering systems and technological innovations and change.
