1. Welcome back to another session at John Paul Academy! I am delighted to inform all parents and pupils that our SQA examination results were again very strong with outstanding increases in both S4 and S6. Our school roll is very healthy and our pupils returning in full school uniform, including blazers for S4, S5 and S6 and black shoes for all pupils, are nothing short of stunning.

All indications are that we are going to have another extremely successful year in John Paul Academy and as always, we hope to enjoy the excellent support of all parents and pupils. Please feel free to contact us on 0141 582 0140 if you have any questions for us or any matters you would like to discuss.

2. JOHN PAUL ACADEMY FUN RUN

At 9.30 am on Saturday 3 September the John Paul Academy ‘Fun Run’ will take place. We are inviting all parents, pupils and staff to run our 3 mile course to raise money for our school fund. Sponsor forms have been issued to every pupil and can be collected at any time from our school office. Please help us to ensure that our pupils continue to benefit in a wide range of subsidised activities by joining us in this event. As usual, your support is greatly appreciated.

3. I am delighted to welcome a number of new staff to our school. They are as follows:

Ms Forster – English

Ms Deeney – English

Mr Coll – PE

Ms Campbell – PE

Ms MacDonald – PE

Ms Glynn – Social Sciences

Ms Foong - RE

4. CHANGES TO SCHOOL ROLL

Tasha Gilmartin S2 to Knightswood Secondary.

Dylan Auld S2 to St Thomas Aquinas Secondary.

Dominika Cichon has enrolled in 2D section 4. Pastoral Care Mrs Watt.

5. Laura Divers in our S4 group has started a programme of singing and guitar playing with our partner pupils in St Blane’s. This is another great example of leadership at all levels and is an excellent advert for our school. Well done Laura, and good luck.

6. I am delighted that our new S1 group appear to have settled in so quickly to their new classes and teachers. The feedback from staff on their attitude and behaviour is very promising and the standard of uniform is superb. Well done to all the boys and girls in S1 and to their parents for their excellent support.
