The UMSL Mosaic International Buddy program provides new international students with anopportunity to be paired with a current UMSL student who is internationally-minded. You will help your buddy settle in and transition to UMSL. Along with the international office, you will provide your buddy with information and assistance they might need before, during and upon arrival at UMSL. As a Mosaic International Buddy you will:

  • Assist your buddy in finding answers to questions they may have about the University and St. Louis prior to arrival and be a continuing contact during their first few weeks (
  • Pick them up from the airport (if they request).
  • Help them with arrival matters such as becoming familiar with the University and student resources, building upon their language and communication skills (if necessary), helpingto navigate the U.S. academic structure, and assisting with local transportation needs around St. Louis during arrival week. Airport pickup and orientation is the weeks of August 8throughAugust16.
  • Attend a program orientation and a planning meeting, where we will discuss excursions for arrival week.Lead excursions during arrival week and attend relevant orientation events.
  • Invite your buddy to spend time together and offer the opportunity for a long-lasting friendship.
