Work Experience: On the Job Training

  1. Student will secure a job position prior to the start of the school year.
  1. Student or parent should contact Mrs. Markham by August 15 if the student does not have a job. (717-566-5330 ext. 2030 or )
  1. The student’s schedule will not show classes for periods 10 and 11, but rather OJT for On the Job Training. If the student’s job schedule requires late night hours, classes can be scheduled periods 3-11 with OJT scheduled for periods 1 and 2.
  1. Students are required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week during the school week. Weekend hours are at the student’s discretion. *Individual schedules may vary according to IEP needs.
  1. District transportation is available at 1:00 to a job site or home if work hours begin later in the day. Transportation is not available the first week of school.If a student receives district transportation, it is their responsibility to contact717-566-5330 ext. 2030 or if they are absent from school or have alternate transportation.
  1. Students are not allowed to remain on school grounds upon dismissal for work.
  1. The student will provide pay stubs to Mrs. Markham to verify hours worked. Failure to do so will require that the student remain at school the full day until proof of hours is provided.
  1. The student will not quit a job without first discussing it with Mrs. Markham. A new job must be secured before giving the mandatory two weeks notice to current employer. The student will be assigned to classes if employment is terminated and a job is not secured within a two week period.

10. If a student is absent from school they are not allowed to go to work. If unable to report to work, the employer must be notified before the start of the normal work day. After 5 absences, student must call Mrs. Markham even if work is not scheduled for that day. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a disciplinary referral.
