Trainees employed as nail technicians provide manicure and pedicure services, including the application of nail art and acrylic and gel nail enhancements. These individuals possess a range of well-developed technical and customer service skills where discretion and judgement is required and they are responsible for their own outputs. This includes client consultation on nail care products and services.
Nail technicians may also be self-employed and responsible for managing their own nail station. Work is typically conducted in nail and beauty salons.
Outcome / · Qualification in Certificate III Nail Technology SIB30315 SHBv1.0 Beauty Services Training Package.
· A career path into the Nail Technology and Beauty Services industry.
· Articulation into Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy Certificate III SIB40115 SHBv1.0 Beauty Services Training Package.
Course delivery / Both on the job and off the job and can be delivered face-to-face, flexibly or mixed mode
Commitment required / Undertake a minimum of 100 days in paid employment and training.
Undertake Certificate II Nail Technology SIB20210 as part of your HSC.
The employment and training can be undertaken during school time, after school and during school holidays.
How will you be assessed? / Both on the job and off the job through written tests, project work & practical exercises.
Eligibility for ATAR / HSC unit credit:
Nail Technology course / NO / Between 5 and 6 units (depending on units chosen) over two years towards your HSC for the structured training component of the school based traineeship.
Industry-based Learning course (optional) / NO / This course is offered as recognition of the significant work component involved in the school based traineeship.
This course offers an additional 4 units credit towards your HSC, however this course does not contribute towards the ATAR.
