Career Development Module 2: Legal Environment Course #98242

The Rohrer College of Business recently opened a Center for Professional Development to assist students with career planning and professional development. The Center will be conduct workshops, career programming and provide daily drop-in hours. In addition to these services, students will complete Career Development Modules embedded within business core coursework. In most cases, freshman will take Module 1 in their Rowan Seminar, sophomores will take Module 2 in Legal Environment, juniors will take Module 3 in Principles of Finance and seniors will take Module 4 in their major-specific Senior Module.

Module Overview

You will be required to complete at least 1 assignment from 4 career-related categories: Explore, Engage, Network and Experience. These 4 assignments will be worth a total of 4 points towards your final grade in the course. There will be multiple options for students to complete activities on and off-campus as well as independently. Descriptions of the four career quadrants are listed here:

Explore: Assist students in determining what they can do with their chosen major and how it applies to the professional world.

Engage: Engagement both on and off-campus with intention of skills development and resume building activities with collegiate and professional community.

Network: Participating in events and workshops to practice the critical skills of networking and learning how to develop and track your own professional network.

Experience: Developing the skills to engage professionally and putting into practice through experiential learning (i.e. shadowing, informational interviews, externships and internships). Students will develop the tools necessary to obtain internships and full-time jobs.

Grading

Assignment completion will tracked through a curriculum that has been built in ProfLink – At the beginning of the semester, The Center for Professional Development will visit class to give an overview of the module program and tracking in ProfLink. Detailed instructions and regular reminders will be emailed to students. A final report of student completion will be provided at the end of the semester to your professor for inclusion in your final grade. The DUE DATE for Modules is on Friday, December 2nd.
