Dorothy Ann Speer Skinner, age 49, of McDonough, Georgia, died Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge, Georgia.

Dorothy Ann Speer Skinner, the eldest child of Hulon and Bettie Ann Allen Speer, was born in Monticello, Jasper County, Georgia. She was educated in the Forest Park, Georgia, Public School System. At the age of 14 years, she gave her life to Christ and was baptized while attending summer camp in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She continued her spiritual growth while attending Peoples Baptist Church. Later in life she became a resident of McDonough, Henry County. Through her love of painting she touched the lives of many people within her community as well as her family. A strong advocate of animal rights, she constantly adopted homeless animals that she would find within her neighborhood. She will greatly be missed by all those who loved her.

She is survived by her parents, Hulon and Bettie Ann Allen Speer of McDonough; grandfather, Charles Allen of Monticello; brother, Thomas Speer of Forest Park; children and spouses, Steven Mitchell Skinner of Athens, Gregory William and Linda Skinner of Warner Robins, and Christy Ann and Daniel Freeman of Cleveland; grandchildren, Alexa Freeman, Riley Freeman, Sean Skinner, and Paige Skinner; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends throughout her community.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Pastor Terrell Hopkins, Heritage Baptist Church will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, January 24, 2011, at Jordan Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be William R. Jenkins, Allen Smith, Chuck Smith, Keith Smith, Terry Smith, and Thomas H. Speer.
