THE WORD OF GOD

Being BORN AGAIN, not of corruptible seed, but OF INCORRUPTIBLE[SEED], by the WORD OF GOD, which LIVETH AND ABIDETH FOR EVER . . . The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the WORD of the LORD ENDURETH FOR EVER . . . – 1 Pet 1:23 -25 (Isa. 40:8)

In the course of my discussions in about the word of God, I have encountered Bible Correctors, who attempt to make a sharp distinction between the terms “word of God, “scriptures,” and “scripture,” in order to silence Bible believers in their reference to the word of God in certain passages. Their emphasis is on the scriptures as being writings and written down, whereas they point to the word of God as being the spoken word. As far as that goes, we do not have a problem with it, until they suggest that the word of God cannot be addressed as being written, thus making the word of God as something intangible or ethereal. Of course, such an emphasis allows Bible Correctors to entertain their theory of a “mystical” word of God as being (somewhere) in all the versions and texts. It also is a way for them to refuse the word of God as being the incorruptible seed that produces the new birth. Of course, it is hard for Bible Correctors (especially the Calvinist variety) to say that they have been born of the incorruptible word of God if they claim to not have an incorruptible word.

The Word of God in the O.T.

In the Old Testament the word of God could be shown, and tested or tried. Every word was said to be pure. God promised that it would stand forever.

1Sa 9:27 . . . stand thou still a while, that I maySHEW thee the word of God.

2Sa 22:31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORDisTRIED . . .

Pro 30:5 Everyword of Godis pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Isa 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

The Word of God in the New Testament

Matt 4:4 . . . It is WRITTEN, Man shall not live . . . by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition . . .

Luke 11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

2Co 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God . . .

2Co 4:2 . . . nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth . . .

Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Col1:25 Whereof I am made a minister . . . to fulfil the word of God . . .

2Tim 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God . . . rightly dividing the word of truth.

1. The word of God can be:

2. Rightly divided

3. Fulfilled

4. Handled deceitfully

5. Corrupted,

6. Heard

7. Kept

8. Made of none effect

9. Be lived by EVERY WORD

10. Be taken as the sword of the Spirit.

11. The word of God is a very tangible entity unlike the Bible Correctors’ unfindable mystical Bible

The Word of God is the Incoruptible Seed that Lives, works, Abides, and Remains Inside the Born Again

The seed is the word of God. – Luke 8:11

For the word of Godis quick, and powerful . . . piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and isa discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. – Heb 4:12

. . . the word of God abidethIN YOU, and ye have overcome the wicked one. – 1 John 2:14

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth IN HIM: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. – 1 John 3:9

. . . when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also IN YOUthat believe. – 1 Thess 2:13

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. -- 1 Peter 1:23

The word of God is QUICK or ALIVE and is the INCORRUPTIBLESEED, which produces the new birth, and it abides, works, lives, discerns, and remains in the born again one along with the complex combination of the soul, spirit, new man, new creature, and new nature in a way that he does not and cannot sin (except in the flesh).– by Herb Evans
