West San Gabriel Valley Administrators Association

Article I. NAME

The name of the organization shall be the West San Gabriel Valley Administrators Association, an affiliate of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).

Article II. PURPOSE

The purpose of this organization is to promote a spirit of co-operation among school administrators in our area; to exchange ideas relative to the education profession; to keep abreast of current trends in education; to further legislation in the best interest of schools; to promote and stimulate sound public relations among all of the schools in our area; to provide a medium for personal contact with associates for mutual benefit and professional growth.

Article III. MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Membership shall be limited to persons who are eligible for membership in ACSA and serve in a management position in the El Monte City School District, Mountain View School District, Valle Lindo School District, or the El Monte Union High School District.

Section 2.Membership dues may be established upon the recommendation of the Executive Board and a majority vote of the association.

Article IV. EXECUTIVE BOARD/ELECTIONS

Section 1. The Executive Board of the Association shall consist of: President, President Elect, who shall automatically become President after serving one year as President-Elect, Past President, Vice President-Programs, Vice President- Membership, Secretary, Treasurer, and a Representative from each of the member school districts.

Section 2. Persons shall be eligible to hold office in this Association who are active members of ACSA and hold an administrative position in one of the four member districts.

Section 3.Each officer shall serve for a term of one school year, beginning July 1st, and shall be eligible to succeed him/herself in office for an additional year. He/she may wait out a year and return to the same office.

Section 4.Officers shall be elected and installed at the last regular meeting. A plurality vote shall constitute an election.

Section 5.Should the office of President become vacant, the President-Elect shall succeed to that office.

Section 6.Vacancies in any office shall be filled by appointment by the President, ratified by the Executive Board, and such officers shall hold office until the next election.

Article V. MEETINGS

Section 1.Meetings of the Executive Board shall be held a minimum of five (5) times during the school year at such a time and place as directed by the President.

Section 2.Meetings of the Association shall be held at least two (2) times each year. Dates shall be set by the Executive Board.

Article VI. EXPENSES

The Executive Board shall approve all expenditures of the Association.

Article VII. STANDING COMMITTEES

Section 1.The standing ACSA Committees may include: Adult Education, Business Services, Classified Management, Co-Administrators, Continuation Education, Curriculum/Instruction, Diversity/Equal Education Opportunities, Elementary Education, Human Resources, Legislative Policy, Middle Grades Education, Pupil Services/Special Education, Superintendency, and Vocational Education.

Section 2.Committee members shall be appointed and the chairperson designated by the President with the approval of the Executive Board.

Section 3.Members of the Committees shall serve for two-year terms.

Article VIII. AMENDMENTS

Section 1.Any proposed amendment shall first be submitted to the Executive Board of the Association. A two-thirds approval of the Executive Board shall be followed by a vote by the total membership.

Section 2.The By-Laws shall be amended by a majority vote of the total voting membership.
