Education:
Politécnica de Madrid University, Madrid, Spain (2010-2014)
Ph.D.
- My PhD is related to the project “Cajal Blue Brain". This project focuses on the simulation, visualization and interaction of brain data. More specifically,I am involved in the interaction part. Our main goal is to develop techniques to facilitate the segmentation of confocal microscopy data of dendrites and spines using a haptic device.
Outcome
- A volume haptic rendering algorithm implemented in C++. Corresponding publication:

Proceedings of the IEEE Haptics Symposium 2012
- A procedure for the haptic editing of dendritic spines in confocal microscopy datasets facilitating the reconstruction of the damaged “spines necks”. Corresponding publication:

"Specialized" Master of Science Degree in Virtual Reality
Graduation with distinction[1]
- Post graduate degreeentitled “Simulation and Virtual Reality” with mainly practical courses in order to allow the students to be ready to use different specific tools: OpenGl, GLSL, image synthesis, scene graphs and haptic device interfacing. Mainly used programming language: C++. Theoretical courses complete the previous ones. Example of topics: parametric surfaces and curves, image processing or compositing.
- My final semester project was about the integration of 3D sound cueing to assist the triangulation gesture in arthroscopic surgery simulation. Corresponding publication:

Proceedings of the ASME 2010 World Conference on Innovative Virtual Reality
WINVR 2010
Outcome
- The implementation of my own small ray-tracing engine. Details and sources:
Telecom-Physique Strasboug, Strasbourg, France (2005-2008)
Engineering degree with a specialization in Image Processing at the Telecom Strasbourg
Master of Science, “Image, Information Sciences and Technologies” at Strasbourg University.
Graduation with merit1
- Three years of engineering school with a double degree option during the last two years corresponding to a master degree. The engineering school covers general topics including but not limited to: signal processing, computer science, fundamental physics, automatism and electronics, etc. Concerning the master degree, major in image processing.
- My final semester project concerned the computation of absolute luminance values from photos. The implemented method uses High Dynamic Range Images (HDRI) to recover the whole luminous dynamic range of the scene.
Outcome
- Keywords in acquired knowledge: Numerical analysis, quantum mechanics, analogical electronic, probability and stochastic processes, general and advanced image processing tools, pattern recognition, image encoding and transmission, and large-scale remote sensing, spectral analysis, inverse problems, optimisation and mathematical morphology.

[1]In France, degrees usually go with a qualification: with merit (final mark between 12/20 and 14/20), with honours (final mark between 14/20 and 16/20) and with distinction (final mark above 16/20)
