What can I expect at a youth tournament?

Parents need to look at the registration for the weigh-in times. This is mandatory and makes sure wrestlers are close to the same weight for competition. Once done with weigh-ins expect a hour delay while the tournament workers get the weigh-in sheets sorted. Your wrestler will be called by age/weight to be placed in a 4 man round robin. The group of wrestlers will be escorted to their mat. Parents don’t be afraid to go with your wrestler during the bracketing and wrestling times. Parent support at the mat is accepted. Usually the youth tournaments start with Kindergarten and work up and through the 6th grade. As a Kindergarten parent you may be in and out of a tournament in a few hours. Your first tournament will be overwhelming yet very exciting. Take it all in and have fun!

Can my wrestler be part of a team?

There will be an opportunity to get involved with “Team”. This takes a lot more dedication and commitment as you are now on the schedule of the Team dates. Please do not get involved with team unless you are able to commit. In order to qualify for team your wrestler will have a “wrestle off” with other wrestlers of the same weight. Note: Team is based on weight and not on age. A 2nd grade wrestler could face a 6th grade wrestler as their opponent. Team does cost an additional $20.00 to help cover the extra cost that is added. Coaches will let you know when team is going to start and wrestle offs will occur.
