FINANCIAL REPORT

FOR THE TWELVE MONTH PERIOD

01 JULY 1999 TO 30 JUNE 2000

My Fellow Past Students,

During the last year, the 1999 / 2000 Executive undertook a variety of Fund Raising Activities. We cannot say that every one of these activities was a financial success, but from each activity we attempted we gained numerous intangible benefits.

Our first undertaking was the hosting of the very successful Naparima College Championship Football Team on Sunday 5th December 1999. This event netted us a monetary loss of $5,850. The main expenses incurred were the purchase of medals for the Team and Advertisements.

On Sunday 20th February 2000 we undertook 'NAPS Men could cook???' This event profited us in excess of $6,000.

Our Annual Joint Carnival Fete with the Rotary Club of Princes Town was held on Saturday 4th March and was a huge success, with our share of the profits being roughly $7,800.

On Saturday 1st April 2000 the N.C.O.B.A. held its first Table Tennis and All Fours Competition. This event netted us a small sum of roughly $850.

On 29th April 2000 we attempted a Chutney Show at the Samar Entertainment Centre in Debe. This event gave us a profit of roughly $1,700.

Membership fees for the year accounted for $2,640.

The Executive have also hired a full time secretary (Ms. Marlene Katwaroo) and thanks to the generosity of the Principal, Mr. Eddie Sookoo, we also have an office at the College. The Executive have also purchased a Computer and Printer in the sum of $7,000 for use by the secretary and for the implementation of a Computerized Database of all Past Students. A direct telephone line (653-NAPS) has also been install in the office.

During the year, there was the continuous merchandising of NAPS T-Shirts and Caps. During the year, we sold roughly fifty-six (56) caps and in excess of one hundred and forty (140) T-shirts. At the end of June there were seventy-two (72) caps and forty-five (45) T-shirts in stock.

In an effort to boost the image and a membership drive of the organization, we have paid for the construction of two permanent signs in San Fernando for Advertising, etc.

As in the past, during the year the Association has donated money and other items to the College. We have networked the computers in the Computer Lab, provided internet access, paid magazine subscriptions for the students, hosted the College's teachers for lunch, provided medals for Sports Day, assisted in the refurbishment of the College's Toilet Block, and assisted both financially and otherwise to numerous other activities.

At this time, the Executive wishes to recognize and thank all the individuals who have worked and helped us in our fund raising activities. Special mention must be made of Fazal Ali, Bal Sirju, Fareez & Wendy Khan, Mr. Deo, Marlene Katwaroo, Arnold Rampersad, Dr. Rooplal Harrinanan, Guy St. John, Ryan Quarsingh and Marcus Date.

A special thanks to the Principal of the College, Mr. Eddison Sookoo, for his support during the past year. Mention must also be made to Mrs. Maureen Atwal and the teaching and auxiliary staff of the College who supported us on each venture.
