Event Competition for Irish Draught Horses

Dressage: Gordon Bryan, Cross Country : Martin Collins, Show Jumping: Kieran Phelan
Eventing : Three competitions : Class 1 for ID horses up to 5 Yrs of Age. Class 2 for ID horses 6 yr olds and upwards. Class 3 for Horses that are a minimum of ½ Bred Irish Draught of Traditional Breeding.
Conditions peculiar to this competition.
- This competition is about the horse. ( A different rider can be used in each phase)
- The three phases will be ridden in the following order a) Dressage b) Showjumping c) X Country
- Dressage will be tests, Preliminary 18 of 2002 and Novice 27 of 2007 With no rein back, movements confined to walk, trot and canter. The test can be called out by a helper.
- Show Jumping Course 12 fences 2 doubles. Height & Spread Max 80 x 80 Class1 & 90 X 90 Class 2
- Cross Crountry Approx 1 mile in length. 12 to 14 jumping efforts.
- The winner shall be the horse with the best combined score over the 3 phases.
- A briefing will be held at 11am for all eventing competitors.
- Prizes will be in kind. With all competitors receiving a commemorative rosette.
In addition :
Class 4 : Obdience In addition therewill be a standalone Obedience Competition under the guidance of Una O’Gorman. This should be good fun. It will commence at 3pm. This will involve a number of tests to show the horses obedience including mounting, loading, crossing obstacles, walking a tight lane, etc etc. There will be an explanatory brief for all participants at 1430 hrs.
Class 5 : Endurance While Yvonne Croke will hold Endurance competition confined to Irish Draughts. This will consist of a 10 mile course and is restricted to 4 Yr Olds and Upwards. This will commence at 11am. No spurs or whips allowed for this competition. An optimum time of 1 Hr 20 Min will be set as the target time for completing this course. In the event of equality of time the heart rate at the finish will decide the winner. Horses will have 20 mins after completing to present for heart rate and in the unlikely event of further equality of heart rate the horse with the fastest time to have the heart rate taken will be declared the winner. There will be a brief for all endurance competitors at 1030 hrs.
