I. Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 11:01 am eastern 8:01 am pacific

II.  Approval of Minutes

a.  The December 2013 and January 2014 meeting minutes were approved by LCDR Jennifer Danieley and LCDR Shwana Coleman.

III.  Chair Report

a.  USPHS 2014 Symposium - Registration and call for abstracts opens today. The theme is Public Health Today.

b.  BASPAG Special Presentations – Email your ideas for speakers and topics to LCDR Jacinta Smith. Be creative when thinking about possible topics and even consider the important activities and accomplishments within your agency.

c.  Promotion eligible officers – DCCPR has processed all documents and your eOPF should reflect that. Assess your eOPF and report inconsistencies by noon today.

d.  All officers – March 30th is the next readiness check. Assess your status and ensure you meet PHS readiness requirements.

IV.  Standing Subcommittee Reports

a.  Awards - CDR Elizabeth Claverie-Williams and LCDR Jennifer Danieley-- no report

b.  Communications - CDR Felecia Binion Williams and LCDR Amy Constantine

i.  Planning quarterly newsletters to highlight BASPAG activities. LDCR Jemekia Thornton will provide information for them

c.  Membership - LCDR Simleen Kaur

i.  One member has joined and initial discussions are underway to coordinate with the Communication Subcommittee

d.  Mentoring – LT Nicole Bell and LCDR Malaika Washington

i.  Plans are under way to schedule a presentation on mentoring opportunities based on a recent CDC Lunch and Learn

e.  Professional Development – LCDR Byron Henry and LCDR Shwana Coleman—

i.  Planning to distribute a needs assessment survey to define the professional development gaps that officers confront.

ii.  Question development is under way.

f.  Recruitment and Retention – LCDR Aimee Williams

i.  Still looking for additional members

ii.  Brainstorming areas officers need support

b.  Announcement: The 2014 BASPAG Officer of the Year nomination package is being assembled for distribution soon.
