Laboratory Services Worker (Night) – Welding and Joining Technology

Employment Terms: This job is a part time, non-benefited position in the Welding and Joining Technology Program that reports to the Program Director.

Salary: Up to $16.00 per hour.

Hours: This position is temporary for a period not to exceed nine (9) consecutive calendar months. There must be a separation of employment for a period of at least thirty (30) calendar days before becoming eligible for re-employment in this position or any other temporary position within the college. Typical schedule is anticipated to be 29 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED. Excellent technical skills in welding technology. Demonstrates initiative. Demonstrates professionalism in appearance. Possesses good interpersonal skills: with faculty; colleagues and peers; and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following technical competencies are preferred:

Knowledge of hand/power tools and welding supplies; Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload; Ability to communicate, meet deadlines, exhibit proper judgment in selecting which questions to handle or re-direct. Post Secondary Education a plus.

Job Description Summary:
Under close supervision, provides tool room support including signing out and returning tools to students, organizing the tool room area, cutting/organizing materials, inventory consumable parts and inform the Program Director when stock is low, and clean welding lab as requested.

1.  Assists in organizing and executing routine tool room related activities; other duties as assigned.

2. Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior. (Performed by all incumbents)
