RACE 1 – SMITHAWARDS PACE – 2090 METRES
Pre-race swab samples were taken from ZOOMBA.
THE SYSTEM VILLAGE pulled very hard after the start and when racing down the back straight on the first occasion was unable to be restrained off the back of ANGKRISTY, contacting the sulky of that runner. THE SYSTEM VILLAGE thenbroke inconveniencing ANGELA DE MARCO NZ, ROCKET SEAL and ME MATE LES. Connections have been advised that THE SYSTEM VILLAGE has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
IVE GOT OOMPH raced rough shortly after the start.
Stewards queried driver Kate MacLeod (ISLAND DISCO) as to the reasons for her handing up the lead in the middle stages of the event, as the mare had wonits previous start when able to lead. Miss MacLeod explained that she was mindful of the fast early lead time(34.6 sec, 1.5 seconds faster than average) and the pressure applied from other runners in the early stageswhen electing to hand up the lead. Stewards accepted Ms Macleod’s explanation. Ms Macleod also advised Stewards that the removable earplugs had not released due to the cord breaking when attempting to activate that gear. ISLAND DISCO’s gear was inspected and found to be of good quality.
Driver Kate Macleod was reprimanded for loose reining over the concluding stages under the provisions of AR 156(4)(c).
Post-race swab samples were taken from ME MATE LES the winner of the event.
RACE 2 – RED SHED RESTORATION BARN PACE – 1609 METRES
Pre-race swab samples were taken from FERAL TRACY.
Trainer Barrie Rattray was fined the sum of $50 under AR 210 for a late driver notification on FERAL TRACY.
CEMENTO RAPIDO momentarily raced rough late in the score-up and was placed on its last chance in the mobile start draw. As a result of CEMENTO RAPIDO racing rough, PUNTER KARALTA was slightly inconvenienced.
SOEZETOCEE and CEMENTO RAPIDO locked wheels on the first turn.
FREYDE broke free of interference passing the 1300 metres. Connections were advised that the filly has been stood down from racing for a period of fourteen days and until the completion of two satisfactory trials.
STITCHINTIME was momentarily inconvenienced when being checked off the back of PUNTER KARALTA at the 600 metre mark.
Passing the 250 metre mark SOEZETOCEE was momentarily tightened when racing between MASTER PAIGE and FREYDE.
Prior to entering the home straight on the final occasion BE GOOD FRANKLIN(Adrian Duggan), which was leading the event, shifted out to a position one off the pegs before then shifting back to the peg line after straightening. MASTER PAIGE(Geoff Madden) which was racing one off the pegs trailing BE GOOD FRANKLIN at that stage was tightened and contacted the sulky of CEMENTO RAPIDO(Duncan Dornauf) which was racing tight toits outside and then broke for a few strides. At the same time PUNTER KARALTA(John Walters) was racing three wide and hung in momentarily before being corrected by its driver.
Early in the home straight IDEN MAKIN TIME(Paul Williams) had to be checked off the back of the tiring BE GOOD FRANKLIN and was inconvenienced. BUSTED(Kate Macleod) which was trailing IDEN MAKIN TIME then contacted the wheel of IDEN MAKIN TIME and broke.
Stewards inquired into the reasons for MASTER PAIGE being checked and after taking evidence from all drivers determined that the interference stemmed from the racing manners of horses involved and deemed that no driver was solely responsible. An inquiry into the reasons for BUSTED breaking found that the check to IDEN MAKIN TIME occurred as a result of BE GOOD FRANKLIN tiring.
Driver Adrian Duggan was reprimanded under the provisions of 168(1) for allowing BE GOOD FRANKLIN to shift up the track shortly before entering the home straight.
RACE 3 – PACK & SEND PACE DIVISION ONE – 2090 METRES
Pre-race swab samples were taken from GO LIKA SAAB LOMBO.
The start of this event was delayed by two minutes due to the sulky wheel of TERROR JONES having to be replaced before the start.
BETA BOLT pulled hard in the score up.
THESE DAYS hung out during the score-up.
BETA BOLT contacted marker pegs during the event.
THESE DAYS hung in and contacted marker pegs rounding the home turn.
Approaching the 1000 metres before receiving the bell the pace of the race eased as a result MAYBE RAMA having to be checked off the back of DAMITSAM before moving three wide. As a result TERROR JONES and GO LIKA SAAB LOMBO, which were trailing MAYBE RAMA, were also inconvenienced.
THESE DAYS which tired over the concluding stages underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealedthat the gelding had tied up.
RACE 4 – TATTSBET PACE – 2090 METRES
Pre-race swab samples were taken from FLETCHERS KNIGHT and MAILIE ROSA.
ANIMI SUB IGNIS was fractious in the score up before then breaking in the score up and being out of position at the start. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed out of the draw for future mobile start events.
REALLY FIESTY hung in in the score up.
ANIMI SUB IGNIS broke free of interference when racing three wide towards the 800 metres. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
NOBEER NOFEAR which led before surrendering the lead at the 1000 metres and then tired and contacted marker pegs rounding the home turn was beaten 74 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Connections have been advised that the filly has been placed on its last chance to race truly.
FLETCHERS KNIGHT whichtired to finish distanced underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
Post-race swab samples were taken from CARDINAL SPEC the winner of the event.
RACE 5 – TALBOT HOTEL PACE – 2090 METRES
Pre-race swab samples were taken from GOOD BEGINNINGS and LITTLE VANCE LOT.
The all clear was delayed when driver Nathan Ford(MISTER RYANJACK) asked to view the films of the start. After doing so Mr Ford was satisfied that the gelding had received a fair start and all-clear was given.
As the start waseffected SPRINGFIELD TATTOO stood flat footed then swung sideways, as a result MISTER RYANJACK was severely checked and was then pulled up from the event by its driver Nathan Ford. GOOD BEGINNINGS and GOSH HEZA REBEL were also checked. Connections have been advised that SPRINGFIELD TATTOO has been placed out of the draw in future standing start events.
BRAVO CHARLIE galloped out and continued to gallop for some distance. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed out of the draw for future standing start events.
BILLABONG BERTIE which galloped out will continue to be placed out of the draw for future standing start events.
ABSTRACTION raced rough after passing the winning post on the first occasion.
PADDYS ACE was held for clear racing room rounding the home turn and was unable to gain a clear run in the home straight.
Driver Wayne Watson (BRAVO CHARLIE) was reprimanded under AR 156(3)(b) for his excessive whip action over the concluding stages, the particulars being that it was used with more than a wrist and elbow action and in other than a flicking motion.
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the whip actions of drivers Adrian Duggan (GRINABLE NZ) and Sharon Patterson (LITTLE VANCE LOT).
RACE 6 – ELDERSLIE HORSE CARE DIVISION TWO – 2090 METRES
Pre-race swab samples were taken from BONA FIDE HUSTLER and MIGHTY JASPER.
DELIGHTFUL LILLY hung out during the score up before being out of position at the start. Driver Kate MacLeod was fined the sum of $100 under AR 162(1)(h) for failing to come up into position at the start.
Racing off the back straight with 1300 metres to goARDLUSSA EXPRESS NZcommenced a three wide run and hung in momentarily locking wheels with DELIGHTFUL LILLY which was tending to hang out. Both runners then lost ground as a result.
BYMARJAC shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
Driver Nathan Ford (MIGHTY JASPER) was fined the sum of $400 under AR 156(3)(c) for using his whip outside the confines of the sulky in the home straight. Mr Ford was further fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR 231(2) for misconducting himself during the inquiry.
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the whip action of driver Nicholas Brockman (BONA FIDE HUSTLER).
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons for ARDLUSSA EXPRESS NZ being out of position at the start.
RACE 7 – BRIGHTON FOOTBALL CLUB PACE – 2090 METRES
Pre-race swab samples were taken from MY KODA KASPER and BELLIOUSLIPS.
MY KODA KASPER pulled hard during the event.
GOTTALOVEFRIDAYS which broke after the start has been placed out of the draw in future mobile start events.
RACE 8 – LACHLAN HOTEL OUSE DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP – 2090 METRES
Pre-race swab samples were taken from SPOT NINE.
THE ADRIATIC NZ galloped out and continued to gallop for some distance. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed out of the draw for future standing start events.
ON THE DEUCE was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn and in the home straight.
Driver Adrian Collins (AMADMANCOMESUNDONE) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 156(3)(b) for his excessive whip action over the concluding stages, the particulars of the charge being that his action was more than a wrist and elbow action and in other than a flicking motion. Mr Collins was fined the sum of $200.
RACE 9 – CRIPPS NETBALL CLUB PACE DIVISION ONE – 1609 METRES
In the score up on the first occasion LA EBONY KITA pulled hard and contacted the mobile barrier arm before then breaking. The starter then called a false start. On the second occasion LA EBONY KITA was out of position at the start. Connections have been advised that the filly has been placed out of the draw in future mobile start events.
BILLY KHAN was out of position at the start on the second occasion. No action was taken due to LA EBONY KITA being out of position.
SANTANNA JOYESS was out of position at the score up on the second occasion. No action was taken due to the false start on the first occasion.
Driver Scott Ford (KIRBYELLE) wascharged under AR 156(3)(b) for his excessive whip use, the particulars being that his action was more than a wrist and elbow action and in other than a flicking motion. After hearing evidence from Mr Ford in defence of his not guilty plea Mr Ford was found guilty of thecharge and his licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 3 race dates commencing midnight the 31st August 2014 and expiring at midnight the 21st September 2014.
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into an incident which occurred 100 metres after the finish of the event in which KIRBYELLE(Scott Ford) and OSCAR BLAKEDON(Ricky Duggan) made contact and OSCAR BLAKEDON then contacted THESAURUS(Paul Hill) which faltered as a result. Stewards adjourned the inquiry so as to be able to take evidence from Mr Hill, as he was granted permission to leave the course to attendto the injuries sustained by THESAURUS.
RACE 10 – OFFICE NATIONAL PACE DIVISION TWO – 1609 METRES
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons for SUPA SUNSHINE (Adrian Collins) being out of position at the start.
Driver Dylan Ford (OUR ARTESIAN LILLY) was reprimanded under AR 162(1)(i) for failing to come up into position by the candy pole.
TIZYALATOR pulled hard whilst being restrained in the early stages.
STRANGE CONDUCT cross fired on the first turn and grabbed a shoe and then broke. Connections have been advised that the gelding has been placed on its last chance to race truly.
NOTE WORTHY LOMBO was out of position at the start. No action was taken against driver Matthew Howlett or the gelding due to OUR ARTESIAN LILLY not being fully in position at the candy pole.
OUR ARTESIAN LILLY, which tired over the concluding stages to be finished beaten 65 metres,has been placed on its last chance to race truly.
Post-race swab samples were taken from TIZYALATOR the winner of the event.
RACE 11 – HYGAIN PACE – 2090 METRES
Pre-race swab samples were taken from KINKY BOOTS NZ and LIZA WITH A Z NZ.
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons for LUCKY DAVE NZ (Zeke Slater) breaking passing the 400 metres whilst racing between GIULIANI NZ and LIZA WITH A Z NZ.
Post-race swab samples were taken from GIULIANI NZ and DIVAS DELIGHT, the winner of the event and second place getter respectively.
RACE 12 – RELISH CATERING PACE – 2090 METRES
TIZ A JAMANE pulled hard in the early stages when being restrained to take a trail. The gelding then hung in during the event.
GENERAL
Driver Scott Ford was found guilty of a charge under the provisions of AR 231(2) for misconducting himself by slamming the Stewards room door following inquiries after the last race. Mr Ford was fined the sum of $200.
