2 / 1. Identify the work of major photographers that throughout history have contributed to important social and artistic ideas. / 75 % of students taking three multiple choice tests will score a grade of 70% or higher. The tests will include photo identification. They will identify the photographer and the decade in which the photograph was taken. Technical photographic processes as well as social and aesthetic concerns will be included. / Fall 2014
71% of students averaged 70% or better on three multiple choice test. / Review more thoroughly the identification of important photographs, and the photographers who took these photographs. Update the class by including more contemporary photographers. Instructor will bring to class additional examples of cameras and the various forms of photographs used by these photographers. The first test should have been reviewed more thoroughly and was an open note test. Students need to be taught more about how to take notes and I should check their notebooks on a regular basis.
3 / 2. 71% of students completing the essay received a score of ‘C’ or better / Prior to the essay, students will work in groups discussing the issues of how modern photographic technology affects our lives. Privacy rights and legal issues will be discussed. The problem this semester was that there were more foreign students and also students with limited English skills. They need more access to help with their writing skills.
2 / 3. Identify photographers and other artists, such as painters, who have been influenced by each other’s work. / 76% of students will score 70% or better taking a 25 question multiple choice test, including slide identification. / Fall 2014

Update information to include current artists, utilize more digital presentations and require the viewing of one feature film. Students needed help in locating the films required but the problem is now somewhat solved with streaming and more students have that available.
4 / 4. Formulate a chronology of important photographic events leading from the origin of the camera to present day. / 90% of students creating a timeline will receive a grade of ‘B’ or better, while working in a group environment. / Fall 2014
With simplifying the time line, 60% of the students received ‘B’s. / Next semester this assignment will not be included. It is very time consuming and the information is already included in their journals.
