1. How does Carleton University support students in their first year?
At Carleton we want students to experience success. The Student Experience Office (SEO) is a student’s first stop when they arrive. The SEO is here to support students during their time at Carleton by offering a variety of programs and services to encourage student engagement throughout their complete Carleton experience.

2. Does Carleton offer a Fall Orientation or Frosh Week? Where do students sign up?
Fall Orientation is a student’s introduction to the academic year and is a great way to meet new people and get to know Carleton University. With a variety of orientation options, there is something for everyone. The week is dry and accessible so everyone is welcome to participate.
- The general CU on Mount Olympus program is presented by the SEO, CUSA and RRRA.
- Engfrosh: Back to Engfrosh is presented by the Student Engineering Society in the Faculty of Engineering and Design.
- Sprosh Corporate Creatures is presented by the Sprott Business Students’ Society (SBSS) in partnership with the Sprott School of Business
- International Student Orientation, presented by the International Student Services Office
- Orientation for Students with visible and non-visible Disabilities, presented by the Paul Menton Centre

3. Does Carleton offer workshops to help students during the school year?
The Centre for Student Academic Support offers workshops on a variety of topics that promote skill development for students at all academic levels. Each workshop is designed to offer students useful tips and strategies to improve their study habits and develop skills that are also useful beyond academics.
The Career Services office provides workshops to help students with their job search and interview skills, resume writing, and students can book a one-on-one appointment with a career counsellor.
Students with learning disabilities are encouraged to contact the Paul Menton Centre. Health and Counselling Services offers medical and counselling services and a health promotion program to support students.

4. Where should a student go if they have a question about their student record (certificate of enrolment, change of major, etc.)?
The Registrar's Office manages the registration activities of all undergraduate and special students, and manages the academic records of all Carleton students. Requests for certificates of enrolment, transcripts, exam deferral requests, petitions/appeals and most academic forms and requests are processed through the Registrar’s Office and many services are available online through Carleton Central.
Academic advisors at the Academic Advising Centre can help students develop effective study skills, understand academic rules and regulations, choose or change degree programs, majors, minors and specialization/concentration areas, and explore any academic difficulties they may be facing. Students can also meet with their Departmental Advisor to discuss program-specific questions.

5. How do students apply for and receive financial aid (bursaries, OSAP, work study)?
- Students may access Bursary and Award Applications through the Undergraduate Online Application Forms systemonCarleton Central, under the Awards and Financial Assistance section, as ofSeptember 6. Once your eligibility to apply for various bursaries is determined, you will be presented with the Applications for Bursaries/Awards that you are eligible to complete. Simply follow the steps on your screen to submit your application(s). The deadline tocomplete and submit your application(s)isOctober 31. You will be advised of the decision mid-December.
- Students who are interested in participating in the Work Study Program should apply early. This program is administered on a "first-come, first-served" basis.Students must be approved to participate in the Work Study Program before they can be hired for a work study position. The Work Study application is now open via Carleton Central.
- Students receiving OSAP should review the Awards website ( for details about how to get their OSAP funding once school begins. Students should ensure that all supporting documents as required by OSAP on their online account ( have been submitted to their proper locations, (including their Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement).
