1958: September 24 ROTARY CLUB OF INDIALANTIC founded (District 6980). Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Melbourne, FL, USA

1970-1971: Tree Farm organized and started by Paul Chell

1974-1975: Shipped 1,000 trees to Ataturk National Forest, Turkey

1980-1981: Began participating in, and hosting, Space Coast Homestay

Program for visiting international District Governors Elect

1982-1983: Rotary Club of Indialantic sponsored the founding of the Rotary

Club of Melbourne Beach

1983-1984: Began Scholarship awards project

1988-1989: Phil Gaarder served as District Governor of District 6980 (60 clubs in Martin, St.Lucie, Okeechobee, Indian River, Osceola, Brevard, Orange and Lake Counties)

1990-1991: Started providing utility poles, donated by Florida Power and Light and stored at the Tree Farm, for osprey nests

1995-1996: Produced 1996 Art Calendar for sale to support Rotary’s

Club Tree Program responded to a Brevard South Beaches

Wastewater Treatment Plant request for 400 oleander to be planted on site

Club broke the 85 active-membership barrier with three new

members on 21 March – Cliff Cook, Stan Helm, Lee Kirby

2007-2008: Club awarded Rotary International Presidential Citation

Club established the Thomas E. Gamble Scholarship as an

annual award to a local high school graduate planning

to attend Brevard Community College

2008-2009: On September 24, Club celebrated 50 years of “Service

Above Self”

Recognition for 50-years of service

2009-2010: Club was selected as the 2009-10 Model Club in the district

and conducted the luncheon meeting, Pres. Michael Foley presiding, at the 2009-10 District Conference, May 1, 2009.

$69,000 raised, with FIT matching funds, exclusively for

Local college scholarships
