Pediatric Critical Care Expansion

Overview

·  This project is required to increase clinical support space to meet current standards of practice and accommodate equipment associated with increasing levels of patient acuity.

·  The project will provide a world class facility that meets both current and future patient needs through increased capacity of the Stollery Children’s Hospital’s Critical Care Units.

·  This $64.1 million project will:

o  develop the currently shelled space on thesixthfloor of the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute for a Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) (Phase 1);

o  redevelop the existing Stollery Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and PICU areas and provide space for common non-clinical/family support (Phase 3);

o  renovate the existing double isolation room at the Stollery NICU located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital into two single isolation rooms; and

o  install a new elevator into an elevator shaft that was previously constructed.
