Job description:
Media Trust is the UK’s leading communications charity, working with thousands of charities, communities and media professionals across the UK. As such, our own marketing needs to be inspiring, effective and innovative. Working directly with the Head of Marketing and Marketing Director, the Marketing Officer will be at the core of our marketing work. You’ll be responsible for coordinating diverse marketing projects and digital marketing campaigns, including the production of our Annual Review and other marketing material, audience understanding and segmentation, online community management and our presence at a variety of events and exhibitions.
You will play a key role in our direct marketing to charity professionals, communities and media volunteers, collating e-marketing copy and compiling target data lists and will be a key custodian of our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring that we collect and report the best quality data from around the organisation and get the maximum return on our marketing investment. You will also help manage our community relationships via social media.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive engagement with all our audience across all platforms: social media, e-newsletters etc.
  • Work closely with all departments to collate information to support the marketing activity.
  • Work closely with the Head of Marketing and project managers to help coordinate major marketing projects including: print production, e-marketing and social media campaigns and media partnerships.
  • Work with the Head of Marketing to ensure all materials and messages are on brand and on message – communicating internally and externally as required
  • Maintain and grow audience databases, including contact lists, records of activity, case studies
  • Create and maintain project plans and associated budgets, liaising with third-party suppliers where appropriate
  • Monitor and report on budget spend and liaise with the Finance team on the management of those budgets and associated invoice administration
  • Regular analysis of audience behaviour to produce reports that inform organisation activity across outputs: measure response rates, evaluate outcomes, target/segment audiences
  • Drive forward the use of the CRM with specific focus on audience understanding, segmentation and research
  • Work with the Head of Marketing to drive forward the understanding of audience behaviour, acquisition and retention, via extensive use of CRM
  • Maintain and develop Media Trust’s presence on industry and sector specific online networks, sites and other groups to build and develop our profile and the take up of our products and services
  • Manage and deliver major partnerships with external organisations specifically in regard to events and conferences where Media Trust is developing new audiences or relationships with major partners
  • Assist in managing the switchboard by answering telephone calls and redirecting enquiries within the organisation
  • Where appropriate work on other marketing activity and project related tasks as defined by the Head of Marketing and Director of Marketing

Person specification:

Essential:
At least two year’s experience of working in media, marketing, communications roles, ideally in the charity sector

  • At least two-year’s experience of managing communications through social media and e-newsletters
  • Experience of managing complex databases, audience segmentation and targeting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage varied workloads
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills and attention to detail
  • High levels of confidence in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email packages
  • First class telephone manner
  • Good team player with a flexible and adaptable attitude, able to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Confident with basic financial processes and procedures
  • Discreet and able to work with confidential information

Desired:

  • Basic understanding of html language
  • Basic photo editing skills
