Member Concerns
Beth Jenkins Smith brought up a discussion regarding concerns she has seen in our communities in recent months. Students’ interactions and discussions surrounding immigration policies and bullying surrounding diverse communities and deportation. She is concerned that kids could be confused about what is happening in the world. How can we help kids and parents feel safe and be informed? Ms. Treger is working on respect and care in the community, respect of differences, and caring for one another. She also speaks to bullying and bystanders to bullying. Lessons are ongoing. Parents and students are encouraged to let the administration know of any incidents of bullying surrounding these issues so that they can be addressed. For next steps, Beth is willing to be a Liaison to assist in community learning and training.
