School Data Report - Susan Hummel

Page 1 of Strive HI Data available on the DOE Website

- More information about scoring well on SBAC literacy
- Met math growth – comparison of cohort from previous year which measures does school support student growth of at least one year - Kalaheo met
- Need to address the gap rate – need to determine how
- ACT Plan for improvement (Readiness)
Science & Math have disaggregated the ACT results data and have developed a plan to address deficiencies based on data. Identified concepts and skills and are currently incorporating practice into the curriculum to address deficiencies.
Input for KHSFinancial Plan SY 2017-18– Dec. 5 part I of Financial Plan due – regarding positions only
- Proposal needs to address the teaching and staff positions- how many positions will be funded?
- Kalaheo Academic Review Team (ART) discussed personnel needs and recommended not cutting teaching positions.
- Enrollment projections for next school year is 887 which is our current enrollment, so current teacher personnel allocation supports meeting student needs
- Currently Kalaheo follows a strategy of planning for and spending for the future. We spending current year allocation of monies for next school year to ensure we are planning for and covering future expenses.
- Request from state to create a plan for additional $236, 000.00 Purpose is to be able to “petition” the legislature with supporting evidence to justify the request to fully fund the proposed DOE budget. What would Kalaheo do with an additional $236K:
- Fully implement the one-to-one program by purchasing chromebooks for the incoming freshmen and the senior class so all 4 grade levels have computers
- Set aside money for teachers to be trained to increase effective utilization of computers in the classroom, provide sub days for training and make tech lesson planning a priority
- Refresh teacher equipment – need 68 new laptops for teachers because teacher laptops warranties will be expiring. Purchase in increments
- Update the MAC lab, replace 30 computers with expired warranties.
- Status for the request for supplemental resources for math? Proposal was sent to CAS regarding request for materials to support math learning – in alignment with strategies to address the gap in math results. We are waiting for approval from complex to go ahead with the purchase of the supplemental materials.
- SCC is now petitioning that the CAS sign off on supplementary math materials as soon as possible.
- If SCC members have any other input on the data, meeting student needs with regards to addressing the gap or input on the financial plan or for the additional $236K, please E-mail Susan Hummel.
