FULL-TIME ATHLETIC TRAINER

Trinity Episcopal School seeks a highly qualified Middle School Athletic Trainer for the 2018-2019 school year.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provide Athletic Trainer coverage for our Middle School Athletic Programs. Serve as the primary substitute for the school nurse. Teach PE classes on an as needed basis.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The athletic trainer will practice said profession within the parameters of the Texas Athletic Trainers Licensing Law as laid out by the State of Texas Athletic Trainer Examiners, and will follow both the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association and Trinity Episcopal School.

These duties are based on the needs of the school, Athletic Programs and ATB. The Athletic Trainer’s duties, enumerated in this document, should not be considered all-inclusive. The Director of Athletics, as necessary, shall modify duties. The Athletic Trainer will be present at home athletic contests, some away contests, all athletics practices and shall attend other post-season and home-hosted contests as directed by the Athletic Director.

  • Establish an effective athletic training program for middle schoolathletics
  • Provide first aid and injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning for Trinity Episcopal School student-athletes.
  • The Athletic Trainer will also be responsible for making appropriate physicianreferrals when necessary
  • Provide coverage at home events, some away events and practices from the beginning of the fall sports season to the conclusion of the springsports season
  • Coordinate and collect the annual required athletic physicals and supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during the sportseasons
  • Implement IMPACT testing for all Athletes in grades 5-8 and maintain a database for baseline concussion testing
  • Maintain a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athleticinjuries
  • Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport specific conditioning programs andmethods
  • Maintain an effective and efficient athletic trainingroom
  • Maintain communication with parents on the care & treatment of their student athlete
  • File and keep record of all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries, and/orincidents
  • Maintain a daily treatmentlog
  • Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up to date inventory
  • Provide the Director of Athletics with an annual budget for supplies andequipment
  • Equip each team with appropriate medicalequipment
  • Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads orbraces
  • Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmentalrisks
  • Share professional literature relative to athletic training with the school’s coachingstaff
  • Teach two Middle School PE Classes

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess and maintain current certification and continued education requirements as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification
  • Must possess and maintain current state licensure in accordance with the Texas Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners
  • Must possess and maintain current certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care

TERMSOFEMPLOYMENT:

This is a ten month position, beginning the first dayof fall practices (approximately mid-August) through approximately mid-June. The salary for position is paid over 12 months in order to maintain benefits status for the full school year.

The Athletic Trainer will work in accordance with a weekly schedule to be determined by the Director of Athletics. Weekly schedules will vary according to the athletic season.

EVALUATION:

The employee will be evaluated annually bytheDirector of Athletic and Physical Education in accordance with Texas laws and regulations.
